Summer Welfare Checks: Ticks, Fleas & Grass Seeds 🌿
Longer days and warmer weather mean more adventures for our cats - but they can also bring some unwanted visitors who also enjoy the sun!
Here's what to look out for during your regular cat checks:
🕷️ Ticks
Ticks look like small bumps attached to your cat's skin and can range from the size of a pinhead to a pea. They're commonly found around the head, neck, ears and between the toes.
🦟 Fleas
Fleas are tiny, fast-moving insects that can cause itching and discomfort. You might not always see the fleas themselves, but you may spot their droppings (often called flea dirt).
🌾 Grass Seeds
Grass seeds may seem harmless, but they can become trapped in your cat's fur or even work their way into the skin, ears, eyes or paws.
⚠️ If you notice swelling, redness, limping, persistent scratching, or your cat seems uncomfortable, contact your vet for advice.
🐱 A quick daily check after your cat has been outside only takes a minute and could help prevent a much bigger problem.
