A Place to Talk Making Calfaria Even More Welcoming!

We're delighted to share some more positive news from our award-winning Calfaria Wellbeing & Wellness Hub in Treorchy!

Thanks to funding from the Pen y Cymoedd Wind Farm Community Fund, Mental Health Matters Wales will be making further improvements to our hub, helping us create comfortable, welcoming and confidential spaces for people accessing support.

Our project, A Place to Talk – Completing the Calfaria Wellbeing Hub, will provide additional furniture and cooling equipment for our consulting rooms, building on the generous donations we've already received.

These improvements might sound simple, but having a comfortable, private space where someone feels safe to talk, be listened to and access support can make a real difference.

A huge thank you to the Pen y Cymoedd Wind Farm Community Fund, established by Vattenfall, for supporting our vision and investing in the wellbeing of our community.

We're also incredibly grateful to everyone who has donated furniture and equipment to help make Calfaria what it is today.

We'll be sharing updates as the improvements take shape!

Helping our community tell its story

A huge thank you to the Graig Fatha Small Community Grant Scheme, administered through Interlink RCT, for supporting our Community Stories, Poetry and Book of the Hub project, based at our award-winning Calfaria Wellbeing & Wellness Hub in Treorchy.

This project gives hub members and people from across our local community the opportunity to share their stories, poems and creative contributions, in their own words and at their own pace.

Have you got a story or poem to share? Whether it’s a local memory, a personal reflection or something inspired by our community, we’d love to hear from you. You don’t need to be an experienced writer.

Send your contributions or questions to [email protected]. We’ll discuss how you’d like your work to be credited and ask your permission before sharing it publicly.

Talking Connections provides low-cost counselling for adults at £10 per session, supporting difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, bereavement, stress, relationships, pet loss.

We provide face-to-face sessions in the Bridgend area, but we also understand that life isn’t always that simple. If you’re unable to attend in person, or live outside the area, you can still connect with us through telephone or video sessions. We’re proud to have supported people across North, West, and Mid Wales in this way, bringing counselling to you, wherever you are!

Our service relies on trainee and volunteer counsellors, who work within their training and competence with appropriate clinical supervision.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer specialist interventions such as EMDR or support for some complex, high-level mental health needs, as well as formal diagnoses.

If you would like more information regarding this service please email us at [email protected] or call us on 01656 651450! 👥
