We manage over 100 nature reserves, from Cardiff to Aberystwth, including the islands of Skomer and Skokholm. We do all of this on membership moneys, legacies, donations and grants. We have a small staff team and much of our work is done with the assistance of volunteers.

Bring the wild to your bookshelf 📖

This 30 Days Wild (and beyond!) learn about nature through reading.

There's a nature book for everyone, from science books to nature-inspired fiction and wildlife memoirs. Our team share some of their current favourites!

Drop your nature book recommendations in the comments 👇

Get to know your wild neighbours 🌼

What's that growing through the pavement cracks? Who do those green leaves belong to? Whose pink flowers are the bees visiting?

Getting close to nature doesn't require travelling to a nature reserve. Step outside and learn about wildlife, starting with what lies on your doorstep.

Imogen's three castles challenge 🚴

Imogen, who is a member of our Living Seas Youth Forum, recently took on her latest fundraising challenge. She cycled from Carmarthen Castle, to Dryslwyn Castle and finished off at Dinefwr Castle. And all in between GCSE revision!

So far she has raised an amazing £400 to support our conservation work on Skomer Island. 🐧 Diolch Imogen!

How well do you know your birdsong? 🐦

This week of 30 Days Wild is all about slowing down and using your senses.

We invite you to press pause, take your earphones out, and listen out for wildlife around you. You might be surprised how much nature you can hear.

Why not up your wildlife ID skills by learning to identify birds by their song?
- Start slow: pick one or two birds you come across regularly.
- Listen to a recording of their song. What does it sound like? A flute? A whistle? A squeaky hinge? Does their song have a recognisable pattern?
- Then, practice listening out for it!

Karen’s legacy

Renovation of Parc Slip Visitor Centre was made possible in part thanks to a gift from a dedicated volunteer, Karen Morris. Her gift helped to improve the visitor centre and nature reserve that she had known so well. Karen's legacy lives on in every visitor who gets to enjoy the wildlife at Parc Slip.

Every gift in every Will, however large or small, makes a huge difference to Welsh wildlife.

Happy World Ocean Day! 🌊

Today we are celebrating our critical work protecting marine wildlife, and the dedicated teams who make it happen.

What does it take to safeguard the future of marine species ⬇️
- monitoring wildlife populations over time
- filling knowledge gaps about ocean health
- bringing marine expertise to policy and decision making
- training and inspiring the next generation of marine conservationists
- connecting people to marine environments
- running education programs

Far more than can be summed up in a short post!

From Cardigan Bay, to Skomer and Skokholm Islands, and all our staff, volunteers and partners who work behind-the-scenes to make it happen - happy World Ocean Day! 💙

The seas should be safe for wildlife 🌊

But every year, marine animals are accidentally caught as bycatch.

There are solutions.

Around the UK, fishers and conservationists are already working together to reduce harm. Now the UK Government must bring in stronger rules, better monitoring, and more protection for marine life.

Nature is necessary.

Please ask your MP to support action on bycatch. Together, we can help keep the seas full of life. Send your message here ➡️ https://champ.ly/7e69s5_f
