🤫 Silence for a Cause

On 31st January, our students will take on a powerful challenge to support the Dignity Centre, a refugee charity here in Bournemouth.

They’ll choose between:

🔇 12 hours of complete silence
📵 24 hours without digital devices

By staying silent, they will make a big noise for compassion, community spirit, and change - raising vital funds and awareness for displaced people in need.

We are proud to see our students making a difference 💛

Keep eyes on Sudan: Over two years of brutal but forgotten conflict.

The Sudan crisis is the world’s largest displacement and protection emergency. 12 million people remain displaced, many living in makeshift shelters without safety or hope. Now, escalating violence in El Fasher and wider Darfur has caused even more families to flee.

Don't believe the hype.

Bournemouth WELCOMES refugees and people seeking asylum 🧡

We were saddened to see the anti-refugee protests outside the hotels in Bournemouth this weekend but please know that the vast majority of people in the UK welcome refugees and want to see an asylum system that is orderly, fair and humane.

Show your support for refugees and people seeking asylum in Bournemouth by donating to Dignity Centre Bournemouth.

The vast majority of our Members at the Dignity Centre Bournemouth have been placed in Home Office asylum accommodation where they receive just £9.95 per week in cash support (on a prepaid card) to pay for things like clothing, toiletries, mobile data and travel. This cash support can often takes weeks or, in some cases, months to come through leaving people in desperate need.

How you can help:
- Donate high-quality men’s clothing. We particularly need casual clothing and sportswear such as t-shirts, jackets, jumpers/hoodies in sizes small, medium and large; jeans and casual trousers (30, 32, 34 inch waist); and shoes, trainers and boots. Please only donate items of a quality you would be proud to wear or lend to a friend.

- Donate supermarket or Primark vouchers to help us stock our 'free shop' with essential toiletries and underwear.

Contact us to arrange delivery or simply drop by during our opening hours (Mon-Fri, 10.30am to 4.30pm).

In solidarity 🧡

The Government has changed the rules to make it impossible for many refugees to ever become British citizens.

The rules will deny people citizenship based not on who they are, but by how they first arrived in the country. It’s designed to punish people who were forced to take a dangerous journey to seek safety.

This ban is all politics and performance. It will only feed the division and hostility in our communities. It sends a message to our neighbours, colleagues, friends, and their families, that they will never be truly welcome here.

We have a chance to force the Government to change course. Use this tool to email your MP. It takes 1 minute: https://actionnetwork.org/letters/tell-your-mp-reverse-the-citizenship-ban

🚨TODAY MPs are debating the refugee citizenship ban.

This ban made it nearly impossible for many refugees to become British citizens.

This affects our neighbours, colleagues, and friends.
