In Another Place

In Another Place In Another Place is a community theatre charity that builds connection, confidence, and wellbeing through creativity.

Create, Learn, Perform - Building Community Through Creativity

We provide welcoming and accessible opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to develop new skills, share their stories and find somewhere to belong. We provide welcoming and accessible opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to develop new skills, share their stories and find somewhere to belong. Inspired by

the people around us and by our faith, we work together to run projects and activities that make a lasting impact on all who take part. We took our name and inspiration from Anthony Gormley’s Another Place and the Iron Men statues at Crosby beach, where our first performances were produced. We continue to work in collaboration with community groups, offering large creative arts projects and smaller specialist groups including:
- Assembly Team
- Assembly Ambassadors
- Cardboard Workshops
- Sewing Workshops
- Drama Workshops
- Gospel Choir
- Giant Puppet Team

As some of you may know, this week is Volunteer Celebration Week. The staff team want to say thank you to all of our volunteers past and present! We appreciate everything you do, all of the love and laughter you have brought to In Another Place these last 20 years. From a live camel on Crosby beach at Christmas, to bringing Narnia into Bootle Strand, we have achieved so much together.
You have helped create so much joy in the communities of Sefton, built connections between people that last a lifetime,
worked together to create incredible art, learned and taught countless skills, and performed to thousands upon thousands of people. It is an honour and a pleasure to work with you and to see you grow and gain confidence in yourselves. We look forward to many more years of excitement, friendships, and bringing crazy ideas to life with you all. We'll see you on the other side of the wardrobe!

Paula (pictured with her support worker, Melissa) has been attending IAP since 2012. Despite being born with Cerebral Palsy she continually inspires us with her positive attitude, her belief in others, and her determination not to let her physical disability define her.

"The workshops mean a lot to me because they’re so inclusive. The team adapted a sewing machine so I could use it more easily by moving the foot pedal onto the table, so I could control it with my hand. It really made a difference. I’ve even suggested my own ideas, like putting giant board games on tables so people who can’t get down to the floor can still join in. "
