Here's some of Charlotte's experience of volunteering with us;
"The biggest thing IAP has given me is people. Some of my closest friends in the world are people I met here. We’re just a gang of misfits who somehow found each other in the most random place! The choir especially has become such a huge part of my life. I’d always wanted to sing a solo, mostly because I’m an only child and still secretly love a bit of attention, but getting to finally sing one alongside one of my best friends was genuinely amazing. There’s something so joyful about seeing people come together every week, especially in the choir. It’s impossible to not be lifted by it.
IAP has completely changed me as a person. When I was young and feeling lost, having people around me who supported me and believed in me made such a difference. It’s even influenced the work I do now as a counsellor. If I met an 18-year-old now who felt the way I did back then, I’d just want to give them the same kindness and patience that people here gave me. That’s what IAP really is to me. It’s family, innit!"
