Could you help shape the future of our community? 🌟

We're looking for two new trustees to join The Hub's Board and help guide our next chapter.

This is a particularly important and exciting time for the organisation as we look ahead, strengthen our foundations, and explore the opportunities that will shape where and how we deliver our work in the years to come.

Whether you bring experience in finance, governance, property, strategy, or simply a passion for making a difference, we'd love to hear from you. We're especially keen to hear from people who can offer fresh perspectives, practical expertise, and a commitment to helping local communities thrive.

As a trustee, you'll play a meaningful role in some significant decisions, helping us navigate the next stage of our journey and create lasting impact.

We are delighted to welcome Tim James as the newest Trustee of The L20 Hub.

Known to many through his work in education and governance, and more recently for giving local people a voice through his podcasting and his work at The Big Onion in Bootle Strand, Tim James has become a passionate advocate for our community.

He brings a wealth of experience, infectious enthusiasm and a firm belief in the power of people working together. Whether championing local stories, creating opportunities or encouraging collaboration, Tim embodies the values at the heart of The L20 Hub: that lasting change happens when communities unite behind a common purpose.

The L20 Hub is currently working through significant change but we continue to endeavour to connect communities, create opportunities and change lives. Tim's values, insight and enthusiasm will be a tremendous asset to our organisation. We are excited to have him join us on this journey and look forward to the difference we can make together.

Please join us in giving Tim a very warm L20 Hub welcome! πŸ’™πŸ©΅

The Big Onion Podcast!!

Bootle voices. Bootle pride. Bootle moving forward. πŸ’™

Tim James podcast is all about creating a local platform that shines a light on local people, celebrating community success, and creating conversations that bring people together and inspire positive change.

This week, TLC speaks with Graeme from Marine In The Community in the Community about the power of sport to give us purpose, improve wellbeing, and strengthen the bonds that connect us all.

Marine in the Community does incredible work across our area, using sport as a force for good to support people of all ages and backgrounds. Graeme shares some fantastic insights into why feeling connected matters and how communities thrive when people come together.

At a time when it's easy to focus on our differences, this episode is a reminder that we are stronger when we support one another. The message is simple: we are better together.

If you care about Bootle, community spirit, and hearing inspiring local stories, this is an episode you won't want to miss.

🌿🚣 We are the Water Wombles! 🚣🌿

We're a friendly community group working in partnership with the Canal & River Trust (Crt Rob Langdon, give us a wave!) helping to keep Bootle's waterways and towpaths cleaner, greener and bluer for everyone. Whether you're joining us by canoe or walking the towpath, you'll be helping to collect litter, protect local wildlife and make a real difference in our community.

It's not just about litter picking, it's about spending time with good people, getting outdoors and enjoying the canal together!

Our sessions are completely FREE to attend, but booking is essential as places are limited and we need to manage capacity safely.

⚠️ We have just ONE place left for this week's session!

πŸ“ We meet at the canal entrance opposite The Lock & Quay, Irlam Road, Bootle, L20 4AH

Water Wombles at it again!!

What a fantastic session we had on the canal yesterday! β˜€οΈ

The water was pleasantly clear, and for once we really had to search for the litter which is always a great sign! πŸ’™β™»οΈ Despite that, our dedicated Wombles still managed to collect an impressive 4 bags of litter from the waterway. πŸ‘πŸ—‘οΈ

The clear waters and sunny weather gave us the perfect opportunity to enjoy everything else the canal has to offer. We spotted beautiful plants in bloom 🌿🌼, dragonflies darting across the water πŸͺ°βœ¨, ducks paddling by πŸ¦† and plenty of birdsong filling the air 🐦🎢.

There was a bit of a breeze at times, which resulted in the occasional spell of aimless floating along the canal! πŸ˜‚πŸš£ But it all added to the fun and gave us plenty of laughs along the way.

We welcomed 3 new members into the Water Wombles family too! πŸŽ‰πŸ’™ It was great to have two new Wombles join us for the session.

Thank you to our couragious leader Crt Rob Langdon and to everyone who came along and helped make it such an enjoyable morning. See you on the 10th June! πŸŒŠπŸ™Œ

Spaces are limited, so if you'd like to join us, grab yours while you can! πŸͺ£πŸŒŠ

THE BIG ONION PODCAST! πŸŽ™
Bootle voices. Bootle pride. Bootle moving forward! πŸ’ͺ

The Big Onion podcast hosted by Tim James is all about giving our town a platform; shining a light on local people, sharing positive stories, and creating conversations that help push Bootle forward.

This week, Tim teams up with Dune Radio for another brilliant episode celebrating the people and positivity driving our community on.

From starting a business organisation, to sharing good news happening right here in our town, to even giving out tips for a better night’s sleep!... This is exactly the kind of conversation Bootle needs more of.

Too often people focus on what’s wrong. Tim shines a light on what’s RIGHT. Real people. Real community. Real ambition.

If you care about Bootle, local voices and building a stronger future together, give this a listen and show some support πŸ‘

πŸš£β€β™‚οΈβœ¨ L20 Hubs Water Wombles strike again! βœ¨πŸš£β€β™€οΈ

What a session! Armed with grabbers, bags, and questionable coordination, we tackled the canal and tow path like the eco-warriors we are! The final haul? A whopping 6 bags of litter from the canal and 1 from the tow path plus a fancy crash helmet! πŸ’ͺ

The weather was glorious, the water was sparkling and the ducks and ducklings appeared to be living their best lives πŸ¦†πŸ’›

Things got a bit weird though...

As you can clearly see in the photo πŸ“Έ, Mark and Irene were last spotted peacefully paddling along… right before what we can only assume was a mysterious alien abduction πŸ‘½βœ¨ We managed to capture a suspicious beam of light hovering over their canoe, right before they disappeared. We haven't seen them since!

And just when we thought it couldn’t get any more eventful… we spotted an absolute unit of a terrapin lurking in the reeds, giving us the side-eye πŸ’πŸ‘€

All in all: great weather, great team, cleaner waterways… and two fewer volunteers than we started with.

If anyone has seen Mark and Irene please let us know as the Canal & River Trust want their boat and paddles back.

If you’ve been thinking about joining us, Mark and Irene's places are going begging🀣. The next Water Womble mission will be Wednesday 13th May! ♻️
