🌸🎧 BLOOMS & BEATS IS COMING TO LAYTON! 🎧🌸

People don't remember being surveyed. They remember how you made them feel 🥰

We're absolutely delighted to announce that Nurturefy CIC and Wandering women have been awarded a grant from the Pride in Place Community Voices Fund to deliver Blooms & Beats: Listening to Layton.

And this isn't your average community consultation. 👀

Over the next couple of months, we'll be taking conversations out into Layton through silent disco walking tours, flowers, acts of kindness, community events and our interactive Layton Voices Map.

We call this Listening Through Kindness. We create opportunities for genuine conversations through shared experiences, creativity, movement and acts of generosity, because people often tell you what really matters when they feel relaxed, valued and connected.

Together with Wandering Women, we'll be asking what you ❤️ about Layton, what drives you crackers, what's missing and, most importantly, where YOU think future investment should go.

And your answers really do matter.

The voices we collect will feed into Pride in Place's 4-Year Investment Plan, helping inform future decisions about the area.

We'll be kicking things off at the Layton Family Fun Day at Kingscote Park on Saturday 29 August, and there'll be plenty more Blooms & Beats to come after that.

On Saturday we are launching our Walking Passport Project.

Funded by Sport England and in partnership with Wandering women we are getting our sandgrown sassy queens more active this summer, feeling good and meeting like minded women.

🌱 Our growers are harvesting! 🙌🥔🍓🥕

Look at this lovely lot! Our Garden Grow & Swap growers have started sending us photos of what they’ve been harvesting, and we are absolutely here for it. Radishes, potatoes, strawberries, courgettes, beans, broccoli, lettuce and more, all grown at home by members of our community. 💚

This is exactly what Garden Grow & Swap is about. Helping people have a go at growing their own food, sharing knowledge, swapping what we have too much of and encouraging each other along the way.

You don't need a huge garden or years of experience. Sometimes it starts with a few seeds, a container and a bit of encouragement, and before you know it you're standing in your kitchen proudly photographing a courgette 😂🥒

A huge thank you to National Lottery players, whose support is helping us make Garden Grow & Swap possible. 🌱💚

If you're growing with us, please keep sharing your photos. The perfect harvests, the tiny carrots, the enormous courgettes, the things that thrived and the things the slugs treated as an all-you-can-eat buffet 🐌😂 We want to see it all.

One thing we've learned through our floristry sessions is that none of us are as alone as we think we are 🥰

Over the last few weeks we've received messages from women talking about anxiety, low mood, stress, trauma, loneliness, menopause and all the other things life throws at us.

As our focus is wellbeing, we don't provide mental health support but we absolutely can point people towards support if and when they need it.

We came across these free courses from Blackpool Talking Therapies and thought they might be useful to share with our community.
