🎉 𝘽𝙞𝙜 𝙣𝙚𝙬𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘽𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙠𝙥𝙤𝙤𝙡'𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙧! Blackpool CAN

We're delighted to announce a new three-year investment from the National Lottery Community Fund that will help strengthen and grow community organisations across Blackpool.

Through the Blackpool Community Action Network, local voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise groups will have access to expanded support, training, funding guidance, volunteer development opportunities and dedicated help for organisations supporting residents facing poverty, discrimination and isolation.

This exciting partnership between Community First Blackpool, Wyre & Fylde, Citizens Advice Blackpool and Social Enterprise Solutions CIC will build on the success of previous work that has already supported hundreds of local groups and distributed nearly £100,000 in small grants across the town.

🌟 𝙑𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙚𝙧𝙨' 𝙒𝙚𝙚𝙠 2026 – 𝙈𝙚𝙚𝙩 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙡 🌟

As part of our Volunteers' Week celebrations, we're proud to introduce Carl, a valued member of our Community First volunteer team and an important part of our BFriend and Well-being

For the past 2–3 years, Carl has dedicated his time to supporting others through volunteering, bringing enthusiasm, kindness and commitment to every session he attends. He is a highly valued member of our volunteer team and plays an important role in helping create welcoming and supportive spaces for others.

Carl's volunteering journey is a wonderful example of the positive impact volunteering can have. Through his involvement with Community First, he has built confidence, made new friends, developed a stronger sense of community, and discovered a greater sense of happiness and self-worth.

One of the things Carl enjoys most about volunteering is being part of the group activities, meeting new people and sharing experiences with others. His positivity and willingness to get involved make him a fantastic ambassador for volunteering and community connection.

Linda has dedicated an incredible 65 years to volunteering, supporting causes and communities through decades of service, kindness and commitment. Her story is a powerful reminder of the impact that volunteering can have—not only on the lives of others but on our own lives too.

It was an honour to meet and hear from Harry Mills, President of The Aden Veterans Association, and Major Clive Candlin, National Chairman of The Aden Veterans Association, whose personal stories and experiences brought this significant chapter of history to life.

As we celebrate Volunteers' Week, we're recognising the vital role volunteers play in preserving stories, building connections and creating spaces where people feel heard.

From recording veterans' experiences and supporting local heritage projects to bringing people together through conversation and shared experiences, volunteers help keep community spirit alive and ensure important stories are never forgotten.

Legasee is currently recruiting volunteers to support The Aden Veterans Project. Whether you're interested in history, storytelling, interviewing, research or simply making a difference, there are opportunities to get involved and help preserve these valuable memories for future generations.
