Fridays at Layton Methodist are all about feeling good, getting support and being around people.

Our Oasis Community Cafรฉ is open from 8.30am, with lighter options available on the menu and lunch served until 1pm.

Our Living Well in Blackpool Campaign ๐Ÿ’š

We are bringing organisations together around the person โ€” not just the problem.

Our campaign recognises that peopleโ€™s lives are connected. Food, warmth, housing, income, health, wellbeing, family support, confidence, skills and opportunity all matter.

It is inspired by Maslowโ€™s hierarchy of needs โ€” the idea that when someone is worrying about food, housing, money, health or feeling isolated, it can be much harder to think about work, learning or their next step.

That is why Living Well in Blackpool is about joining up support earlier, removing barriers and helping people move from crisis to confidence.

Not endless signposting.
Not duplicated services.
But organisations, services and communities working together around people.

For us, this is not about politics. It is about people, dignity and practical support.

Together, we can build a fairer, healthier, stronger Blackpool. ๐Ÿ’š

Todayโ€™s lunch was a success! ๐Ÿ’š

Our BLT sandwiches with salad and coleslaw went down really well today โ€” so well they may end up becoming a regular on the menu.

A big thank you to Pat for her lovely homemade lemon meringue dessert, served with ice cream. It was a proper treat. ๐Ÿฐ

And as always, thank you to our amazing volunteers who make days like this possible.

Small Win, Big Smile ๐Ÿ’š

A huge thank you to Kay, who won this Ninja Swirl, worth around ยฃ350 and very kindly donated to us.

What makes this extra special is that our young people had actually asked for something like this for future youth cookery sessions, Youth Forum activities and our wider youth work.

Itโ€™s a lovely reminder that when young people share their ideas, the community listens and helps make things happen.

Thank you Kay โ€” such a kind gift, and one that will put lots of smiles on faces. ๐ŸŽ‰

Recent local news has highlighted again why creating opportunities for young people matters so much.

Through our ๐—™๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜„๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฑ ๐—ฃ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ท๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐˜ and ๐—Ÿ๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—ช๐—ฒ๐—น๐—น ๐—ถ๐—ป ๐—•๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ธ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐—ผ๐—น campaign, we are working with partners to strengthen support for young people and families โ€” linking community space, trusted relationships, skills, work experience, volunteering and future pathways.

We have already invested in a Youth and Family Worker, and we are fundraising to create a new dedicated Youth Space in Layton, with all plans now approved.

The space will be safe, welcoming and inclusive โ€” open to all, and designed to complement existing provision.

This is why we do it ๐Ÿ’š

A lovely message from one of our Saturday Surplus Food families today.

With just a few bits picked up this morning โ€” bananas, potatoes, carrots, eggs and other surplus items โ€” theyโ€™ve made homemade chips, carrot and potato balls, banana pancakes, breakfasts for the week and veg for meals too.

Itโ€™s not just about food support. Itโ€™s about helping families, reducing waste, and making sure good food is used.

A huge thank you to everyone who supports, volunteers and donates. And thank you to the families who come along and make the most of it โ€” you are part of this too. ๐Ÿ’š

Cookery, crafts and fun with Active Blackpool โ€” two lovely mornings, all free for children and families.

Big thanks to Asda Foundation, Tesco (Blackpool) for their support, and to everyone who came along.
