The Springfield Project

The Springfield Project The Springfield Project is a safe and welcoming space where people from diverse backgrounds from our community can meet together and receive support.

The Springfield Project developed from St Christopher's Church's vision for supporting families in the local area and wishing to share God's love in our community. We work in partnership with Birmingham City Council to deliver children's centre services providing activities and support for families with children under 5. We also have a social housing project called Raising the Roof which houses si

x local families. We run an Opening Doors programme which supports local people back in to work, and helps them with learning English as well. Additionally we are developing The Springfield Neighbour Scheme to support the wellbeing of local people, in partnership with local GPs. The Springfield Project's strapline "God's love in our Community" is achieved through our aims:

* To provide relevant community services to families and children in Springfield.
* To provide a community focus; open, welcoming and accepting of everyone.
* To cross social and cultural barriers engaging this diverse community.
* To promote understanding and the common good in our community.
* To support family relationships.

At Mini Springers, Morgan from the REP theatre came to give our Sunflower children a performance of "The Lion Inside" 🦁✨ Birmingham Rep

The session was a mix of drama and listening, and the children were encouraged to be creative and energetic.

The purpose of the project is to help support with transitions to school, as some of the children will receive similar drama sessions in Sept in their new schools!
Morgan will visit again in two weeks to read us the story "Harold and The Purple Crayon". We cannot wait to see her again 💚

At Home learning - REAL (Raising Early Achievement in Literacy) – Introducing Early Writing. Our 2-year-olds were exploring playdough. ⭐

🎶 By filling and emptying bowls, squeezing, and poking the dough, they were busy building their fine motor and cognitive skills. We sang a few rounds of "Pat-a-cake" and some other songs to keep engagement and early literacy skills going. 🎶

Examples were given to mums about how simple, everyday household items can turn basic playtime into a powerful learning experience at home.
