The Springfield Project

The Springfield Project The Springfield Project is a safe and welcoming space where people from diverse backgrounds from our community can meet together and receive support.

The Springfield Project developed from St Christopher's Church's vision for supporting families in the local area and wishing to share God's love in our community. We work in partnership with Birmingham City Council to deliver children's centre services providing activities and support for families with children under 5. We also have a social housing project called Raising the Roof which houses si

x local families. We run an Opening Doors programme which supports local people back in to work, and helps them with learning English as well. Additionally we are developing The Springfield Neighbour Scheme to support the wellbeing of local people, in partnership with local GPs. The Springfield Project's strapline "God's love in our Community" is achieved through our aims:

* To provide relevant community services to families and children in Springfield.
* To provide a community focus; open, welcoming and accepting of everyone.
* To cross social and cultural barriers engaging this diverse community.
* To promote understanding and the common good in our community.
* To support family relationships.

🌞 Summer Stay & Play Highlights at The Springfield Project last week 🌞 Startwell

Last week, National Allotments Week, the European Athletics Championships, and National Plum Day gave families lots of opportunities to learn through play.

Children enjoyed growing cress, exploring a harvesting sensory box, completing obstacle courses, and taking part in plum tasting and printing activities. Parents were also introduced to 180 Katie, Fay 5 a Day, 2 Snacks Max, and Sammy Skills to support healthy eating and active play at home.

✨ Roti Reinvented – Zero Waste Cooking Class | 8.09.26! ✨πŸ₯™

Celebrating Zero Waste Week 2026 – 7th to 11th September! ♻️

Bread and flatbreads are everyday staples, but these products are also among the most wasted foods in UK homes. In fact, we throw away around 960 tonnes of bread every single day!* 🍞

Join us for a fun, hands-on cooking class where we'll give leftover rotis a new lease of life and show just how versatile they can be!

Together we'll be making:
πŸ₯§ Mini quiches – using roti instead of pastry
πŸ§€ Quesadillas – using roti as a tortilla wrap
Plus a sweet treat demo! 🍫

All recipes are family friendly and designed around using up leftovers and scraps, while showing creative ways to use everyday ingredients differently.

You'll pick up practical cooking skills, discover money-saving ideas and learn simple ways to make the most of the food you already have at home.

🌱 £1 to book

More coverage of our amazing youth volunteers by Birmingham Live. 😍

"I think there would be a bit more crime if there were no youth groups," 14-year-old Mohammed Hasnain reflected on the importance of youth services in Birmingham today.

The teenager is part of a continually expanding youth network in the heart of Sparkhill dubbed the Springfield Project, which runs essential youth-led campaigns included the Child Friendly Neighbourhood initiative.

Organisers of the Child Friendly Neighbourhood scheme seek to engage with Birmingham's youth by offering enriching activities, while helping to support their own neighbourhood.

It was a pleasure to host the community screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing and have such a valuable and engaging conversation about the challenges we face and the action needed for the future. A big thank you to everyone who came along and took part in the event.

There is clear evidence that urgent action will strengthen our economy, resilience, and quality of life.
Please keep sharing the petition. It remains open until 20th November, and continuing to push up the number sends a powerful signal.
