Sad news about the passing of Bill Oddie. Bill supported the successful Save Our Bog campaign in 1980—Birmingham City Council had planned to build a housing estate on an area adjacent to Moseley Bog. J.R.R. Tolkien played in the Bog as a child.
Bill, who grew up in Quinton, helped to bring the campaign to the attention of the nation. The images are from The Moseley Paper of summer 1980. Bill was certainly a Goodie.

The August edition of Moseley B13 Magazine is out this weekend!
The magazine features Moseley Society History Group remembering our cover star John Shufflebotham (Shufflebotham’s groceries & provisions store stood on the corner of Woodbridge and Alcester roads in the first part of the last century).
There’s also a review of Moseley in Bloom: Open Gardens 2026; a mouthwatering Moseley Munch on Hot Summer Seafood; more nostalgia in the form of From the Archives: Images of Moseley which looks back at a record breaking exhibition from 1995.
There’s also Newshound local news stories: The Guide to August on the best events in Moseley, Kings Heath & Balsall Heath… and
much more.

The July edition of Moseley B13 Magazine is out this week! ☀️

The new issue takes a look at our American namesake—the Moseley in Virginia, USA. Are there similarities between the two?

We also have Moseley Community Trust celebrating 25 years; John Newson looking at the use of solar power in our communities; the Moseley Society History Group on the industrialist and philanthropist John Young Sangster.
