Your local St John Ambulance Community Network covering the Wirral Peninsula. We also offer Demonstrations to Groups, Clubs or even on your events.

We offer Medical cover for events, Both from large scale to the smaller school fetes and run clubs. St John Ambulance Wirral are the local Network of St John Ambulance, made up of volunteers from all over the Wirral Peninsula and beyond. We cover events of all sizes, some examples are,
Local School fairs, Run groups, 10K Races, School Proms, Viking Shows, Secret Gardens of Oxton, The Wirral Coastal Walk. Supported by a wide range of clinical skills to suit all event needs where we will look after your guests like they are our own. This can range from Community First Aiders, Emergency Responders, Ambulance Crews, Nurses and Doctors. We even have Cycle Response for larger Coverage. We can also do demo stands at your events or stand alone demo's, where we bring the training equipment, Used by our very own volunteers and show you and your guests what we get up to. This could be CPR and the use of a DEFIB

Well that’s a wrap, the final night of this years River of Light has been done and the lights will soon be off to their next city, France for a whole new set of people to explore and enjoy.

St John Ambulance Wirral was there throughout the Light Festival to ensure people got the help they needed and also got to experience the lights along with everyone else.

For out final two installations to look at, there is Invisible Cities which was at the Pier head is about the different ways people experience cities, is it home, a place to explore, to learn or start a new life? Walk through the installation to see the changing colours, shapes and sounds, and wonder how other people experience the world around them.

And finally at Liverpool Parish Church was “Today I Love You” in bright, glowing words, which is about being kind, caring for others, sharing love and telling your loved ones that you do.

Lovely morning for a run, St John Ambulance Wirral were out and about this foggy Sunday morning for the Boarders League 5 mile road race around Birkenhead Park.

Penultimate night, night six of River of Light and more installations to explore and enjoy, with St John Ambulance giving some a go.

Loop is at St Pauls Square and is an interactive and fun artwork with six giant spinning wheels. When you sit inside the wheel and work together to make it turn and spin it creates lights and music, moving the pictures to create the illusion of moving animations.

Colour Rush is by the Martin Luther Building at the Albert Dock and is a bright artwork made from colourful lights and patterns. Its mirrored base reflects the colours, making them look like they are multiplying and brings people into its colourful light.

St John Ambulance were on hand again moving round the installations at night five of the River of Light, with more lights on show, lighting up the city with amazing sights and sounds.

At Williamson Square there is POP!, which had five colourful characters that are hiding inside tall coloured towers. Make some noise, clap, talk or sing to help them pop out and wave hello.

When everyone joins in together all the characters appear, filling the space with lights, music and movement showing how much fun people can have by working together for a common goal.

There is also Coloured Peonies outside the Cunard which is a colourful bunch of giant flowers that light up the night. During the day, they look like large white flowers, fluttering in the breeze, then as it gets dark, they glow with ever changing colours.

River of Light night four and more lights to explore and share with St John Ambulance out and about among the installations.

Tonight we are focusing on Unity at Georges Dock Gate is a towering installations with five people joined together, where you can step inside to see bright colours, shapes and faces that celebrate peoples differences and their communities. You can jump or hop on the floor to create unique sounds and colours, to celebrates friendship, kindness and togetherness.

There is also two loveable characters playing on the Town-hall, the Anooki, who are best friends, are playing hide-and-seek around the columns celebrating friendship, kindness, remembering to smile and share moments with those around you.

Night three and more amazing light installations glowing across the city to inspire and bring people together.

At the Anchor Courtyard at the Royal
Albert Dock The Stars Come Out at Night creates patterns of stars encompassing the Courtyard in their glow, as it slowly turns, the stars move across the ground and nearby buildings reminding us that we are all connected and part of the same universe, and to stop and look up.

At Derby Square opposite the Courts, there is the Dream Herd with its glowing sheep you can touch, with each sheep lighting up and making sounds. As more people join in, the lights and sounds grow and is inspired by counting sheep, inviting you inside the dream.

Night two at River of Light, with installations and St John Ambulance spread out across the city for another light filled night.

Tonight we focus on Paradigm which is by the Hilton in Liverpool one, illustrating how we can make a difference by working together and it includes glowing beacons that represent small changes making a larger whole, and encourages people to think about the world around them.

Then there is Together on the wall at Wrapping at the docks. This artwork celebrates identity, community and belonging, featuring colourful characters, creatures and landscapes, inviting people into an imaginative world and shows how people can come together, share stories and find strength in their differences.

Well after the storms of the weekend, River of Light opened for night one with St John Ambulance volunteers from Merseyside and beyond in attendance for this spectator light event.

In Exchange Flags there is Flower Power, which is seven large flowers which scatter thousands of colourful, shimmering lights and reflections across the surrounding architecture and people.

An interactive jukebox invites the people to select tracks from a diverse playlist, with each piece being synchronised with a unique lighting sequence, creating an experience that everyone can enjoy together.

Well the lights are all up and ready to go, the River of Light starts tomorrow for 10 nights, lighting up the city with amazing shows and interactions every evening from 5-9pm.

Hope everyone enjoys the trail of lights through the city and St John Ambulance will be on hand throughout the nights incase any assistance is required.

And so it begins, St John Wirral and Merseyside at Day One of the Build for River of Light 2026, which is the Ninth year these spectacular light trails have come to Liverpool, with this years theme “Together”.

There will have 13 light installations across the City, from the Pier-head, to the Town Hall, to Williamson Square and around the Albert Docks.

The lights will go on on Friday 23rd October from 17:00-21:00hrs each evening for ten nights until Sunday 1st November.

St John Merseyside will be out and about though out the build, the live nights and the de-rig, ensuring that anyone who needs help gets it and the lights can be enjoyed by all.
