Happy Friday everyone!

Research Participants Wanted! πŸ—£οΈ

The University of East Anglia (UEA) is recruiting participants for two research projects exploring social connectedness following Acquired Brain Injury (ABI).

We would like to hear from:

- Family members (including close friends) of someone with an ABI
- Paid staff and volunteers who support families affected by ABI

The research aims to better understand how Social connections are built and maintained after ABI, and how organisations, staff and volunteers can help families feel connected and supported.

Participants will be invited to take part in a confidential interview to share their experiences and perspectives. The findings will help improve understanding and support for families affected by ABI.

If you're interested in taking part, please scan the QR code on the poster!

Please share with anyone who may be interested πŸ’™

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Thank you, East Beds PCN! β˜•

In April, members of our team recently attended the East Beds PCN Coffee Morning, a fantastic event that brought together local organisations and members of the community to share information about the support and services available across Bedfordshire.

It was a great opportunity to meet local residents, connect with other organisations, and catch up with familiar faces from across the healthcare and community sector. Events like these play an important role in helping people discover the services available to them and build connections within the local community.

A big thank you to East Beds PCN for inviting us to be part of the event. It was wonderful to spend time with so many organisations doing great work across Bedfordshire, including British Red Cross, Age UK, Radfield Home Care Bedford & Ampthill, Sight Concern Bedfordshire, bpha, Tibbs Dementia Foundation, Better, Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, Citizens Advice Bedford, and The Man Cave.

We look forward to working together and supporting our local community in the future πŸ’™

Discover Advokit

Advokit is a co-designed benefits support toolkit created in collaboration with 40+ people with aphasia to help make disability benefits information clearer, more accessible, and easier to manage.

Benefit forms such as PIP can often feel long, confusing, and overwhelming - especially for people with communication difficulties. Advokit was designed to help make this process more communication-friendly and supportive.

The toolkit includes:
- Information on 20+ disability benefits
- Practical tips and direct application links
- Real stories and experiences from people with aphasia
- Read-aloud accessibility features
- A comparison table explaining different benefits
- "Benefit Buddy" - a chatbot designed to help draft benefit applications

They are also looking for feedback to help improve the toolkit further. The feedback form takes around 5 - 10 minutes to complete.

If you are interested in exploring Advokit, Headway Bedford can support you to do so if needed. Please contact us: www.headwaybedford.org.uk
