October saw the eight birthday of Beggarwood Bookworms . We celebrated with a delicious cake from the cafe. It is so lovely to see loyal members that were at the very first meeting .
During our eight years we have read over 50 books together and been able to have 10 fantastic author visits .
We have read a wide selection of genre and we always say it is so good to be introduced to new authors and to read books we would otherwise never choose to pick up . This month’ s book was Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy.
Set on an island in Antarctica the world’s largest seed bank is in imminent danger of flooding and an injured stranger is washed up on the shore. It is book of the wild sea and mystery and the group was really split in two with many members loving the atmosphere and the setting but others found the story a little unbelievable - love it or hate it !!!
Next month’s choice is the very popular The Correspondent by Virginia Evans. Read along with us and you are very welcome to join us in the Cafe in the Park for book chat, coffee and cake .
