Down Grange Meadow & Hedgerow

The winter work schedule is complete! We are working on the Summer schedule of Events, Flower surveying and Seed collecting..... but in the meantime can we put a shout out for any existing birdwatchers who would like to get just a bit more involved -with monitoring the bird population of Down Grange meadow.

On Tuesday 24th Feb we had a joint work party in the Meadow with members of the Beggarwood Conservation Group - the weather was great! - and we got a lot done in pulling up blackthorn and extending the dead hedging by St Marks.

Huge thanks to the Beggarwood gang!

Its the first of March and the daffodild in the meadow are already in bloom! They are native wild dafs planted some years ago and multilplying slowly along the edge of the northern tree belt - enjoy!

Our January work parties in the Meadow will be on 11th Jan and 31st Jan as January is a 5 week month.

Sat 26th Oct (10-12.00) Meadow Work Party

We had a fantastic Oct work party in The Orchard last week - with lots of new friends from the Geocache community - This comming Sat its the Meadow we are working on - bush pruning & crown raising by pathways - all going into the deadhedging on the western bountary by St Marks. - in other words a free workout, fresh air and more friends.

'25-26 Workparty season is here!
This year we are trying a new approach - work parties in Down Grange Meadow will be alternating between Saturdays and Sundays in each month - so whatever yours commitments we hope there are dates when you can come and join in. We hope this is not confusing - we will not run out of work to be done!
All sessions 10.00 - 12.30 starting at Homesteads Rd entrance.
