Window on the Past has been quiet for a while, but work has been happening in the background going through more of the information collected by Trevor Hart. This will in time be available to view on the Window on the Past website (www.windowonthepast.co.uk). In the meantime, here is an entry we have recently uploaded. It can be found on the website Explore page by searching for the entry with ID 737.

L Hunt and Sons Limited is a haulage firm, established in 1896 in the neighbouring village of Herriard, which has been operating from Upton Grey since the 1950s. Members of the Hunt family have been central in the life of the village ever since. Gordon Hunt recently gave a very well narrated presentation on the history of the firm and the Hunt family from the early days of horse-drawn carts to the modern day, to a local U3A group. The presentation was kindly recorded by Peter Owen in November 2024, who also introduces it. Gordon gives an audio commentary on pictures of family members and the many vehicles run by the firm over the years, and also recalls his own life growing up in Upton Grey from 1944 and some of the many public roles he has had in the village. It is in the form of a video file, with slides and synced voiceover.
