Our 6-week Confidence Classes at the Farm are starting 7th September and we only have a few places left! 🐐🐑🌱

A fun, relaxed programme designed to help children build confidence, develop social skills and make new friends, with lots of hands-on activities including:

🐾 Animal handling
🎯 Games
🤝 Team building
🧩 Problem solving
🌿 Outdoor activities
😊 And plenty of fun!

Key Stage 2: 5pm–6pm
Key Stage 3: 6.15pm–7.15pm

🎟️ RAFFLE PRIZE DONATIONS NEEDED! 🎟️

On Friday 4th September, we’re holding our ticket-only charity event at Farmspace — and we’re delighted to say it’s SOLD OUT! 🎉💚

As part of the evening, we’ll be holding a raffle to help raise even more money for Farmspace, and we would be hugely grateful for any donations of raffle prizes.

🎁 Everything is gratefully received — big or small, vouchers, hampers, experiences, treats or anything else you think would make a great raffle prize!

As we close another incredible academic year at Farmspace, we want to say a huge thank you to all of our amazing pupils and their families.

We have been truly overwhelmed by your thoughtful gifts, kind words and continued support. Your encouragement means so much to us, and we are incredibly grateful to be part of your children’s journeys.

This has been our most successful year yet, and we couldn’t be prouder of every single one of our pupils. Watching them grow in confidence, develop new skills, build friendships and achieve goals they never thought possible has been an absolute privilege. Every child has their own unique story, and it has been wonderful to see so many amazing journeys unfold.

To our Year 11s, as you move on to college and exciting new opportunities, we wish you every success for the future. We know you’ll continue to achieve great things.

To those pupils moving on to new school placements, we wish you smooth and successful transitions. We are so proud of how far you’ve come and hope you continue to flourish.

And to those returning to Farmspace in September, we can’t wait to welcome you back! We’re also looking forward to meeting the new pupils joining our Farmspace family.

Farmspace Barnsley is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team on a temporary contract.

📍 Location: Farmspace Barnsley Silkstone Common
📅 Days: Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday
⏰ Term Time Only
💰 Annual salary (term-time, 3 days per week): approximately £11,400–£12,000 per year

The successful candidate will support children and young people in our unique outdoor learning environment, helping to create engaging, positive and inclusive experiences.

We are looking for someone who:
✅ Enjoys working with children and young people and outdoors with animals
✅ Is reliable, caring and proactive
✅ Works well as part of a team
✅ Has relevant experience or qualifications (desirable)

We are proud to work alongside the majority of schools across Barnsley, as well as Rotherham, Wakefield and Barnsley Local Authority to support children and young people who need an alternative pathway.

Our ethos is simple: every child deserves the opportunity to succeed, feel valued, and reach their potential.

Can anyone help?

We are desperately looking for some heavy-duty gardening forks for our allotment project. The children have been working so hard creating and maintaining their allotment, but unfortunately the tools we currently have aren’t strong enough and several have already broken.

Any donations would be hugely appreciated and would make a big difference. Thank you so much

It’s been another incredible start to the half term here at Farmspace! 🌿🐑
Our young farmers have had such a special experience welcoming and caring for baby goats, chicks, and ducklings at the start of term, before getting fully involved in the excitement of lambing season. They’ve supported with birthing lambs, learned how to dock tails and tag ears, and have shown such care, responsibility, and confidence throughout.
Alongside this, they’ve been busy planting a wide range of delicious vegetables, which are already growing beautifully — we can’t wait to see the results of all their hard work! 🌱
We’ve also launched our brand new free confidence classes, which have been a huge success. It’s been fantastic to see children growing in confidence, building relationships, and enjoying their time on the farm.

We’ve welcomed several new pupils this half term who have settled in brilliantly and are already becoming fantastic young farmers — we’re so proud of them all.

If your child is struggling with school attendance, on a partial timetable, has SEMH needs, or is currently out of education, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’re here to help and support every step of the way. 💚
