On Saturday 13th June we are hosting a one day workshop in the technique of Mono-Print.

The name gives you an idea of what the technique is - each print is unique, a one off, that canโ€™t be editioned in the same way that you can edition an etching, lino or screen print. However, it is a very painterly, immediate technique, not requiring a lot of process steps, and appeals to those with a painting background, who would like to see their mark making translated in a slightly different way.
Inks are applied onto a metal or perspex plate, with rollers, brushes and rags, then wiped away to bring together a composition. The plate is then pulled through an etching press under printmaking paper, so the inks are forced into the fibres of the paper, giving a completely unique finish.

This one day workshop runs from 10am - 4pm with a break for lunch, and is led by the talented painter/printmaker Sara Brown.

๐ŸŽจ Artist in Residence Announcement
Ards and North Down Borough Council, with support from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, is delighted to announce Imogen Donegan as the new Artist in Residence at Seacourt Print Workshop, Bangor.

Running from April 2026 to March 2027, this 12โ€‘month residency is delivered in partnership with Seacourt Print Workshop, one of Northern Irelandโ€™s leading printmaking centres.

A multiโ€‘media artist living and working in Bangor, Imogenโ€™s practice spans printmaking, drawing, animation and film, with a strong focus on community engagement and placeโ€‘based work. During the residency, she will develop a new body of work exploring Bangor as a place of transition, responding to the cityโ€™s ongoing physical and cultural change.

Shaped through close collaboration with local communities, the work will contribute to the Councilโ€™s wider programme of artsโ€‘led placemaking during this important time of regeneration.

A brand new collaborative project has launched in Seacourt this Spring.
Funded by Bangor Marine Ltd and Arts & Business NI. This venture brings together the four secondary schools in Bangor - Bangor Grammar, Bangor Academy, Glenlola Collegiate and St. Columbanus College.

Each school has been assigned a professional artist who will visit the students in the classroom, lead an explorative field study day, and support the students thereafter in the process of art making and the production of a set of original screen prints and etchings. Each student will be encouraged to explore Bangorโ€™s built environment, heritage and future potential and engage with the city around them.

The programme is shaped and inspired by the work and philosophy of the German artist Gerd Winner, whose practice has long examined how art can create conversations around place, architecture and regeneration.

The programme will culminate in an exhibition at Seacourt this December. With input from Bangor Marine Ltd, the students will gain valuable knowledge on the complexity of regeneration processes and the many different professional functions that are part of changing a city like ours.

Through this project we are also given a fresh new perspective through the eyes of these young people - the generation that will use, engage with, and enjoy this new Bangor for years to come.

We are incredibly grateful to all stakeholders involved and are excited to see what these young people can create when given the tools, knowledge and support to dig deeper, explore more and open their eyes to the changing city they call home.
