🌟 We're delighted to officially launch our Compassionate Neighbours programme during Loneliness Awareness Week.

Compassionate Neighbours is all about bringing people together. The programme helps reduce loneliness and social isolation for people living with a life-limiting condition by creating meaningful connections through friendship, community, and support.

Today, we welcomed and trained our very first group of Compassionate Neighbour Volunteers. Based in and around Aylesbury, these amazing volunteers will be sharing their time, kindness, and companionship with people in their local community who may benefit from a friendly connection.

We're excited to see the difference these new relationships will make and are incredibly grateful to everyone who has chosen to be part of this growing community movement.

We'll be running regular volunteer training sessions and would love to hear from anyone interested in getting involved.

Referrals for Community Members wishing to be matched with a Compassionate Neighbour will be opening soon.

To find out more about the programme, referral criteria, or volunteering opportunities, visit: https://fnhospice.org.uk/compassionate-neighbours or email [email protected]

Together, we can help build a more connected and compassionate community.

"Did you know volunteering can be a great way to boost your CV and gain work experience? ✨

Alice, Assistant Manager at our Waddesdon shop, shared with us how a volunteering opportunity at our Beaconsfield shop changed her career path.

“Before I took the step and became a volunteer, I wish I’d known how easy and quick it can be to feel part of a community. After my first shift, I’d already made connections and walked home with my head held a little bit higher.

"If you find yourself with some spare time this summer, I suggest giving volunteering a go. It can refresh your skills, teach you new ones and provide work experience for your future. Plus, you also get biscuits!”💚

This year’s Midnight Walk will be especially meaningful for one incredible group taking part.

An amazing team of 52 friends, family and colleagues from Aylesbury Waterside Theatre will be walking together in memory of Donna Elliott, who sadly died earlier this year.

Midnight Walk was something Donna absolutely loved taking part in, so those closest to her have come together to honour her memory, celebrate her life, and raise money for the Hospices and nurses who cared for her with such compassion.

Already, the team has raised an incredible £3,222 in Donna’s memory, with donations continuing to come in.

Stories like Donna’s are at the heart of Midnight Walk. Every step taken is the chance to remember loved ones, celebrate precious memories, and support local hospice care for patients and families who need it most.

If you’ve been thinking about joining us, this is your last chance to secure your place. Online ticket sales close on Friday 19th June.

Walk 5 or 10 miles beneath the summer solstice sky, starting from Roman Park Hall in Aylesbury, alongside hundreds of others walking for someone special and making a difference to local hospice care.

⛳ Wishing Jody and the team the very best of luck as they tee off on an incredible challenge this Thursday, completing 72 holes of golf in just one day!

This is the third year Jody and friends have stepped up to the challenge. Last year they spent more than 16 hours on the course and walked an astonishing 24 miles along the way!

The challenge is especially meaningful to Jody and his family. Jody’s mum was cared for by Florence Nightingale Hospice in January 2024. In Jody’s words, the Hospice staff “supported us, guided us and quite honestly rescued us during the hardest time of our lives.”

All funds raised will go to our Hospices to deliver compassionate care. The team has already raised £300, but they would love your support to help get them over their fundraising target of £500.

If you'd like to chip in, please visit their JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/jody-sweers-3

We hope the day is a huge success and can’t wait to see photos from what promises to be an amazing achievement. Good luck to everyone involved! 💙

⚽🎉 A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our World Cup Kick Off at Wendover Memorial Hall last week. It was an incredible evening of football, fun and fundraising in support of our Hospices.

From the interactive football quiz and lively World Cup sweepstake to fantastic raffle prizes, the room was full of energy and friendly competition from start to finish.

Most importantly, your support helps us continue providing vital care for local patients and families when they need it most. We’re so grateful to everyone who came along and made the night such a success.

There’s not long to go now until Midnight Walk 2026!

In just one week’s time, we’ll be coming together in Aylesbury for a special night of remembrance, celebration and support for local hospice care.

As we walk, we’ll be brightening the night’s sky with lights, glow sticks and lanterns and creating a sea of pink shirts making their way through Aylesbury in support of our Hospices.

If you’ve been thinking about joining us, this is your last chance to secure your place. Walk 5 or 10 miles beneath the summer solstice sky, honour loved ones, celebrate precious memories, and help make a difference to local patients and families.
