The Master Chef of Great Britain (formerly The Institute of Master Chefs) was formed in 1980 to provide a forum for the exchange of culinary ideas and to further the profession through training and guidance to young chefs. A professional chef's association seeking to promote everything that is the very best of British, produce, recipes, artisan suppliers and chefs and to uphold the great culinary traditions and skills.

MCGB Vice Chairman, Dan Ashmore delivering a superb demo at the Butcher’s Block masterclass in September, using our corporate partner, AMACA’s chopping board rider. Designed to help chefs raise the height of their boards to suit. Totally hygienic, lightweight and stable, designed for chefs by a chef! Thank you for your support .

It is with great sadness that we have learned that Michelin Star Chef Ian McAndrew has passed away. George McIvor, MCGB Chairman- Ian was a dear friend and an inspiration to many young chefs. His knowledge, passion and commitment to the industry was exemplary. Our thoughts and condolences are with Jane and the family.

Our recent visit to Mowi in the West Highlands offered a detailed and fascinating insight into the world of farmed Atlantic salmon. As the largest producer globally, Mowi welcomed Chairman George McIvor and the MCGB team for two days packed with learning and discovery. Starting at the hatchery near Fort William, followed by a trip to Skye where we boarded boats to go out to the sea nets in challenging weather! Informative, innovative and fascinating. The second day saw us back in Fort William to see how technology and AI is helping to monitor the fish, feeding patterns and waste management. It was a truly educational trip.
