We recently had a team from The Casey Group help us out with resurfacing the track for our horses.

We are so pleased with the support that Casey recently offered us, with resurfacing our track and installing a beautiful post-and-rail fence. As part of our wellbeing focus it is important to us that the animals also have a good environment to live in. Our horses have constant access to a field and a large sheltered area, but this leads to heavy use on the track to the fields and our previous efforts to lay stone had all disappeared into the mud. Casey scraped back the mud-and-stone layer and put in a new, deeper layer of stone as well as a new fence, and levelled off the mud area to the side of the track. It all looks much smarter now, and we will be able to put down some grass seed and plant new hedging plants to the side of the stone track, so that as well as a better surface for horses and people to walk over we will be improving our biodiversity. Any clients with mobility issues will also now be able to access our fields much more easily. This is a success for us in so many different areas and will make a huge difference to us. Thank you Casey.

Introducing our new 5-week programme for St Peter's Ward residents.
We are excited to share this free, 5-session programme of support for any adult living in St Peter's Ward, Tameside, who is economically inactive (not in work or looking for work). The day runs 10-2 and all participants will be picked up and dropped off at a location central to St Peter's Ward.

Through a series of nature-based activities you will be supported to develop resilience, boost problem-solving skills, become more active in a way that suits you and most importantly have fun.

Following the end of the 5 weeks, you are welcome to continue to benefit from support with Valley Farm through our volunteering club, mid-week craft groups or 1-2-1 coaching.

Contact Liz at [email protected] to find out more.
Referrals and self-referrals accepted.

Have you ever done a logic grid puzzle?
It felt like that today. We needed the vet out as we suspected our sheep had scab (a mite infection). On top of that we were wondering if one of our girls was unintentionally pregnant.

Following the vet visit we then had to work out logistics for:
1 sheep needs a diet
4 sheep need extra food
1 sheep is pregnant, but with a 2-8 week estimate for due date
1 ram lamb who can't go in with any ewes
1 tup who can go with the ewes, but only in a couple of weeks

I've got a plan for the next 4 weeks but I'm not sure what I'm doing after that! It will depend on grass growth and which sheep have gained or lost weight

Oh, and moving the lambs. It's time for them to be weaned so that the mums can have a rest.
