Founded in 2018 by Lily Horgan and Charlie Dunne, Meta4 Dance Company is a North East based contemporary dance company focusing on the importance of movement for all.

Here's how our new parent and child class would work:

1. You arrive together.
2. Your child goes into their dance class with one of our professional teachers.
3. You go next door for an adult class: move, stretch, have fun, meet other parents.
4. You meet back up, both buzzing.

One fee covers you both. Adults of any experience welcome.

We're gathering interest now. Once enough people sign up, we'll pick the day, time and place that suits the most families.

How do you make a dance show about football? You start with the people who love it.

For Jumpers for Goalposts we ran workshops with rural schools, took pupils to Dance City in Newcastle, and toured a family show around Northumberland and the North East.

That's how we make all our work: with the communities we're making it for.

Teachers, we're coming to a school near you.

Meta4 Dance runs contemporary dance workshops for primary and secondary schools across Northumberland: in PE, in creative arts, for SEND groups, for whole-school days and alongside our live shows.

Led by professional dancers. Every child can take part.

As a charity, we can now offer more school workshops, and we're raising funds so rural schools can take part for free.

Why wait in the car?

We're planning something new: a dance class for your child and a class for you, at the same time, in rooms side by side. One fee for both.

Your child dances with us. You dance too. No experience needed, just come as you are. Only want the kids' class, or just the adults'? That's fine too.

There's no day, time or venue yet. We need a minimum number of people signed up before we can run it, so if you'd come along, tell us now.

Throwback to Confluence, our piece about the rivers and landscapes we call home.

NEW: Parent & Child Dance Classes 💃🕺

We're launching something new near Alnwick — a dance class for children (ages 6–12) AND their parents, running at the same time in separate spaces, so nobody's left waiting around!

🧒 Kids get to move, play, and dance
🧑 Parents get their own movement class next door
👨‍👩‍👧 Everyone leaves happy (and a bit more energised!)

Big news from Meta4 Dance Company! 🎉

We are thrilled to announce that Meta4 Dance Company is now officially a registered charity (Charity No. 1218978)!

This is a huge step for us, and it means we can do so much more across Northumberland — reaching more communities, running more classes and workshops, and making dance accessible to people who might not otherwise get the chance to take part.

None of this would be possible without the dancers, families, and supporters who've been with us on this journey so far. Thank you for believing in what we do 💛
