The purpose is therapy - but delivered in such a way that the children and young people receive and experience an active physical workout through the horse, interaction in and with ‘normal’ environment, young people (volunteers) - a positive communication and uplifted time ( literally!:) succeeding, achieving, engaging in and with physical activity, sport, games - even on occasion in competition with a peer who is in all ways experiencing very similar challenges - yet overcoming them in this opportunity of hippotherapy! - We see them ‘fly’ :)
We look for sponsors and grant funding to help make this service accessible for every family/child who can benefit from this if the door is open for them to access it! The families/carer’s partner in this as far as they are able, up to 50% of the cost of the service; the facilities we use offer us a non commercial rate to also partner in making this something affordable - yet also something that helps them to feed and care for the equines they loan to us in this context of hippotherapy! ( strictly non profit making!) Donations are gratefully received - and can be made easily online via the ‘donate’ button that links to an account set up with virginmoneygiving for Hippotherapy Northumberland- all donations qualify for gift aid if you are a tax payer - and that makes possible increasing the value of your gift by 20% paid to us by HMRC tax contributions that you have already made! - a Win -Win :)! Thank you for making this possible :
I saw a child who couldn't walk,
sit on a horse, laugh and talk. Then ride it through a field of daisies
and yet he could not walk unaided. I saw a child, no legs below,
sit on a horse, and make it go
through woods of green
and places he had never been
to sit and stare,
except from a chair. I saw a child who could only crawl
mount a horse and sit up tall
Put it through degrees of paces
and laugh at the wonder in our faces
I saw a child born into strife,
Take up and hold the reins of life
and that same child was heard to say,
Thank God for showing me the way.
