As you can see, absolutely no fun was had at all by the Berwick Friday Knit & Natter group making no-sew bunting to decorate festival venues this year, šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚! Look at those giggling faces!

After great training from Repurposeful CIC , our festival team members were able to pass on that knowledge to this redoubtable group of ladies who meet weekly in the library. The bunting is made from up-cycled materials, and will be used again and again. Far better than all the materials going to land-fill and we think the people ripping the fabric found it quite cathartic!

So if you're in looking for a to help you enjoy crafting in a more ecologically responsible way, we highly recommend you head to one of their open days in .

Thank you Northumberland Libraries for allowing us to make such a mess in your nice tidy building!

We all want to use less energy to keep our homes warm and safe.

Whether we're feeling a financial pinch, or whether we want to cut our fossil fuel emissions, the end result is the same. Find our how by coming to "Cut Bills, Cut Carbon, Build Better" at What a Wonderful World Festival on Saturday 27th June at Alnwick Playhouse.

There'll be a Q & A session so you can ask questions that relate directly to your circumstances. A small investment in a ticket to this event could save you £100s in the longer-term.

Our team was at Markets yesterday, having fun with making music, telling people about the festival, and giving away free trees.

If you're in on Wednesday 24th June, we'll be there again, with more trees, and more info about the festival, but some events, especially the arts and crafts ones, happen just before the official start date of 25th of June. So have a look at www.whataww.org , or follow us here to see what's on before you miss it.

Worth doing soon - two events have completely sold out already! Tickets for most events are available from Alnwick Playhouse 's Box Office.

We were delighted to hear that Alnwick Town Council has awarded us a grant of £1000 to help fund our 5th annual Festival at the end of June.

Chair of the Council’s Governance and Community Engagement Committee, Councillor Lynda Wearn, said the council ā€œsupported the aim of the festival which is to increase awareness of environmental issues and celebrate the natural world, through debate, music, poetry, film and the visual arts. Once again, the Festival promises a wide range of events across Alnwick and beyond, suitable for all ages. We wish them every success.ā€

Lynda presented the grant accompanied by fellow councillors Andy Hunt and Mayor Geoff Watson.

WaWW founders Liz and Alastair Anderson and Chair of the Trustees Chris Algar are seen accepting the grant at Alnwick Playhouse.

Liz commented ā€œWe are very grateful to the Town Council for their continues support. We have a very varied programme of events such as a panel of speakers discussing how we can all cut our bills and cut carbon, local youngsters celebrating the beauty of planet earth, poetry events, children’s theatre, environmental art and archaeology and of course music, including John Boden from Bellowhead – winner of 11 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. We really do have something for everyone.ā€

The Festival takes place from June 25th – 28th.

Tickets available at Alnwick Playhouse and further information on the WaWW website.
