Tondu and District Art Society, (Tadas), is a local art group which was founded in 1982. We currently have a membership of around 50 amateur artists, as well as a small waiting list of people wishing to join us. We are a friendly group of people who enjoy painting, and art in general, as a hobby, and are always willing to share our ideas and techniques with each other. This has resulted in a high
standard of work among our members and has led to the high reputation that the Art Society enjoys. The art group meets weekly from 7pm to 9pm on Tuesdays at the Len Evans Centre which is within the grounds of Aberkenfig Welfare Association in the centre of the village. We hold an exhibition at Bryngarw Country Park, in April each year and have also held a second one at the Len Evans Centre, Aberkenfig in August from time to time. We hope that the work we display will help to spread interest in the arts among the general public and encourage others to join our friendly art group. Entrance to our exhibitions is free, and a warm welcome is always extended to our visitors. During the year we hold at least three demonstrations led by professional artists. These events are also open to members of the general public who are welcome to join us for a small fee of £3. Once a month we aim to arrange a different optional art activity in which our members are able to participate to encourage them to learn new skills, use different media and develop new techniques if they so wish. We always look forward to hearing from members of the public wishing to join us or to learn more about the activities of the Art Society. Please contact our Chairman or Secretary on our page if you would like to get in touch.
