Last month alone, we distributed 124 food parcels (that's an average of more than four parcels every day) to people in and around Conwy. Each parcel represented someone facing hardship – whether due to rising living costs, illness, unemployment, low income, or an unexpected crisis. Without regular donations from local customers, it would be much harder to meet this level of demand.

The Hive - Abergele Community Action - home to Abergele District Foodbank is asking for donations to be dropped off at our local Tesco in Abergele or with us in The Hive - Abergele Pensarn Railway Station.

We are looking for donations of milk, juice, tins of meat, peaches and rice pudding this week please.

Thanks to your incredible generosity, we collected 425.30kg of food donations, which equates to an estimated 42 emergency food parcels for people facing hardship in our local community.

At a time when many individuals and families are struggling with the rising cost of living, these donations will make a meaningful difference. Every item donated helps ensure that people experiencing crisis have access to essential food and support when they need it most. Your kindness will help provide meals, reduce worry, and offer hope to those who may be going through some of the most difficult circumstances of their lives.

The success of this collection demonstrates the strength and compassion of the Rhyl community. By coming together, you have helped us support local people with dignity and care, showing that no one has to face hardship alone.

Thank you to everybody at Tesco who has donated this week. In May we distributed 124 parcels. These donations will go along way to support people in crisis in June.

If you are able to donate we are desperately in need of jam, milk, cereal, coffee and tins of meat.

Our collection point is permanently placed in Tesco Superstore opposite the self service tills next to the book shelf.

I have spent the last few days learning alongside a diverse range of anti–poverty leaders with Trussell.

We know that achieving our vision of ending the need for emergency food aid will require confident, effective anti-poverty leadership.

The Hive - Abergele Community Action - home to Abergele District Foodbank and Abergele Community Shop are proud to be part of The Unleashed Leadership Academy, which will focus on equipping us, as leaders, to increase our skills, knowledge and confidence to work collaboratively, influence change and help build communities where no one needs emergency food aid to survive.

I have been inspired so much and look forward to putting this learning into practice.

Thank you to everyone at Trussell, Clore and Lumina for an amazing time.

Another thank you to all the other 40 course participants. I am in awe of you all. It's been the best experience hearing from you all.

If you or anyone you know is at crisis point for whatever reason, come and speak to us. Support is available.

We offer food parcels to those who are struggling to afford the essentials and run a community shop which offers an amazing amount of food and household essentials for a very reasonable price.

LAST DAY OF OUR FOOD DRIVE TODAY

Special thanks to all our staff and volunteers from The Hive - Abergele Community Action and all staff at ASDA Rhyl for making this possible.

Abergele District Foodbank is holding a food drive at ASDA RHYL today - Friday 29th May.

Thank you each and every person who donated again today. Donating just one item makes a huge difference to the people we support through our amazing project Abergele District Foodbank.

This year alone, we’ve already issued 506 food parcels — an average of 27 every week — helping feed 268 children and 667 adults in our community. 💙 These figures increase every single day.

Last year, we distributed 1,071 food parcels, averaging 21 per week, supporting 746 children and 1,478 adults.

The need is growing, and every donation makes a real difference.
We’re asking our community to come together for our upcoming Food Drive to help ensure no family goes without essential food and supplies.
