Yesterday, Clwb Rygbi Llandudno Rugby Club was packed with pure inspiration as our amazing friends at Ignite Gym’s NW took on their second Ignite Games! From the very first lift to the final whistle, every ounce of determination was a powerful reminder of what community, routine, and standing side-by-side can do for our mental wellbeing.
We want to say a massive, heartfelt thank you to the entire Ignite Gyms team, the spectators, and every single athlete who pushed through the pressure. Because of you, vital local mental health services will keep running right here in Conwy. Speaking of absolute legends... we have to give a massive shout-out to a phenomenal powerhouse duo: Lyndsey and Cheryl! 👑👑💙While raising extra funds wasn't a requirement to compete, this inspiring pair stepped up together, raising over £200, to support our services!
Lyndsey shared with us why tackling this challenge as a team meant so much to her:
"In October 2021, my husband suffered a heart attack at just 30. The mental toll was incredible, and my mind became a bit of a gloomier place. In January 2025, I walked through the doors at Ignite to try and change my life and I have never looked back. Working in the emergency services since 2017, I see firsthand what organisations like Conwy Mind do. These industries tend to be predominantly male, and fighting the stigma is something I am very passionate about. This event was completely out of my comfort zone, but having Cheryl by my side helped my mind to focus on just being me for an hour—not mum, not a wife, just me. It makes me feel so much lighter for it."
This is exactly what "paying it forward" looks like. It costs around £50 to fund a vital 1-to-1 support session or community check-in, meaning Lyndsey and Cheryl’s incredible joint effort has directly unlocked life-changing support for multiple people in our community when life feels a bit too much.
To everyone who took part, and to incredible teams like Lyndsey and Cheryl: you didn't just smash a fitness challenge. You broke the stigma. You showed us the power of connection. We are so incredibly proud of you. 💙
