‼️ Do you know this woman? ‼️
Maybe she was your Brown Owl in Fintry back in the day?! Or took you or your kids for nature adventures and birdwatching with the YOC/ Wildlife Explorers groups she ran for many years? Or did she care for you or your relatives? Maybe she walked your dogs, house sat with your cats, looked after your pets? Or did she take in an animal from you when you couldn't care for it anymore? Take your kids for DOE placements?
Mione Morrison, my mum, is the founder, life blood and driving force behind Glendrick Roost. She has lived here for over 50 years, first at the caravan site in Fintry where I grew up, now in Gartmore. Over those years she has done all of the above and more for local people, giving of herself selflessly in so many ways 💜
For the last 25 years she has worked tirelessly 7 days a week, 365 days a year, providing a safe home for life to abused, abandoned and unwanted animals through her charity. She never stops, she's always caring for others, be they 4 legged or 2, she has a heart of gold, she'd do anything for anyone and I'm so incredibly proud of her.
My mum is now 74 years old. She's had 2 hip replacements and a double mastectomy to beat breast cancer, yet still she powers on all day every day. Her knees need doing and she's facing some other health challenges, but she won't stop caring for the 22 special needs dogs and countless other animals at the sanctuary every single day of her life, as well as continuing to walk folks' dogs to bring in funds and taking some of the blind dogs on sponsored walks to show how amazing and capable they are.
She's a real inspiration, I dont know how she does it all, and, as I'm sure many of you are aware, she's quite a character! 🫣😆
However, the time has come where she needs some real help to ensure she can continue this life of providing a safe haven to the animals in her care, especially her beloved pack of incredible dogs.
To allow her to carry on with her amazing work for the rest of her days, we urgently need to make her life more manageable by upgrading the existing ancient rundown dog accommodation on site where she cares for them 24/7. (Details in link below)
If you know mum, you'll know how much these dogs mean to her, and how much she gives to them and the other animals in her care. Without these upgrades to make things a bit easier, there is a real risk that she won't be able to continue, which would destroy her, as well as put so many precious lives at risk.
After so many years of giving everything to others, I'm hoping some of you might be in a position to give something back to her.
She won't ask for help, so I'm doing it for her. She's gonna kill me for posting this so I really hope you guys can make it worth it lol 😆 🫣😬🙏💜
