Come and see how your support is making a difference in our corner of the world by joining us for a special morning of lab tours.

Step behind the scenes with our funded researcher Dr Claire Whyte and learn more about her incredible work investigating blood clots. People with cancer have a higher risk of developing blood clots. In this tour, learn how clots form, how they’re broken down and how the process is modelled in the lab.

You'll also hear how Friends of ANCHOR funding has supported research into the early detection of blood clots in breast cancer patients, helping to pave the way for improved care and better outcomes in the future.

🌷⚓✨Happy ANCHORVERSARY to our Vicki! 🌷⚓✨

For the past six years, Vicki has been at the heart of so much of what we do, leading our Wellbeing Team in the ANCHOR Unit with unrelenting passion and dedication.

Always wearing a smile, Vicki is the definition of a "can do" attitude. Whether she's supporting patients and their families through Making Memories requests, driving forward ambitious projects, organising the ANCHOR Christmas Party for our hard-working NHS colleagues, or finding new ways for us to do more, no challenge is ever too big and no task is ever too small.

A genuine crusader for Friends of ANCHOR, Vicki is a huge cheerleader; championing and advocating for her team and the volunteers within the hospital as well as being there to support her fellow colleagues in the fundraising team and inspiring everyone around her with her energy and commitment. She's respected by our NHS colleagues and continually goes the extra mile to ensure patients, and their loved ones, receive the very best support.

Her dedication extends beyond the working day too. Whether it's her husband Ryan helping behind the scenes at Courage on the Catwalk and Brave, or her three children sporting red tees to take part in the Celebrate Aberdeen Parade (her youngest, Harry, is chief distributor of the FoA flags to the little ones down Union Street 😜), the whole family gets behind the charity, embodying the spirit of Friends of ANCHOR.

Thank you, Vicki, for six incredible years of compassion and unwavering dedication. You truly are wonderful!

We had a very special delivery arrive at ANCHOR HQ last week 🍦

Mackie's of Scotland very kindly stopped by with a generous £1,000 donation as part of the organisation celebrating its 40th anniversary. What a way to celebrate, by making such a generous contribution to improving cancer and haematology care in the region ❤🌷

Marie, who has worked at Mackie's for over two decades, nominated Friends of ANCHOR after a close friend benefited from support following a diagnosis.

And they didn't disappoint with delivering some tasty treats either, donating plenty of chocolate bars to put a smile on the faces of those undergoing treatment.

We would like to say a huge thank you to The Garioch Blend Dance Band, who raised an incredible £1,185 at their Scottish Variety Concert in Oldmeldrum 🎻🪗

A packed audience enjoyed an afternoon of music, jokes, raffles and stories accompanied by delicious bakes and a cuppa ☕

What happens beyond the finish line? 🏆

A couple of Sundays ago, we welcomed our challenge event fundraisers to our annual Breakfast of Champions! A chance to celebrate every mile, every step, and every penny raised in support of Friends of ANCHOR.

From inspiring stories shared by panelists & 2026 fundraisers Ian Milne, Isabel Murray and Neil Jackson, to hearing first-hand about the difference your fundraising makes in the ANCHOR Unit from Dr Graham MacDonald, it was a morning full of celebrating big wins.

To every single person who has pulled on a red tee this year - thank you!! You are making a huge difference for cancer and haematology patients across the North of Scotland and we're incredibly grateful to have you repping red.
