The Cove Community Woodland Summer Event is now only 2 weeks away. We hope this year will be as well attended as previous year so save the date.

There will be a bouncy castle, face painting, food and drink (soft!), and several vendors.

It's a great time to meet the volunteers and talk about what we do to look after and maintain the land.

The play area is well used which is great as the equipment was moved from Doonies Farm when it was closed.

We look forward to seeing you all there.

If possible, please walk to the event, or use the car park at Loirston Annexe Community Centre, it's only a 2 minute walk from there.

Friday is looking like a great day for being outdoors. Why not come along and meet the volunteers and hear what we do.

Well done to everyone that took part in the annual Cove Clean Up and a big thank you to the organisers. Several members and volunteers from the Cove Woodland Trust joined in - collecting over 8 bin bags of rubbish from wooded areas in Cove and Altens. It makes such a big difference, let’s keep our village tidy! 🚮🌲🌳

We were delighted to be featured in the council's recent write up about their Community Festive Fund! We were one of 120 groups across the city to apply, and we used the funding to help bring the Cairngorm Reindeer Herd to the site.

We can also share that the total raised on the day of our recent winter event - through donations by generous members of our community - has totalled £551.10. This has contributed to event costs including Santa's presents and fencing for the reindeer. Thanks again to all that contributed, those that attended and volunteers that supported the event for making it a success

Big thank you to everyone who attended today’s event - what a turnout! Santa met over 400 children and even more people got to see the reindeer. Thanks also to all the businesses joining us to trade at the event, as well as the Love Citadel Church Choir, Cove and Altens Community Council and the Pétanque Group.

Thank you to Jim and Wendy - our very own Santa and Santa’s wife - as well as the snow dogs. Thank you to everyone else who volunteered their time, making the event happen - putting up gazebos in the wind isn’t easy!

Thanks to all of the event donors and funders - Aberdeen City Council’s Community Festive Fund and Small Financial Assistance Grant for part funding the reindeers appearance fee. Balmoral Group for arranging and covering rental of portaloos. Asda Garthdee and Portlethen supermarkets for donating 60 selection boxes for Santa to distribute. And Shell UK for donating vouchers which were handed out to every 100th and final child to visit Santa.

Thank you to everyone that made a donation in the charity buckets - the elves are adding up the total. If you enjoyed the event and want to support the work of the Cove Woodland Trust SCIO, and help make events like this possible - please consider donating, details below:

We're delighted to announce that Santa and His Reindeer will be returning to the Cove Community Woodland on Sunday 14th December 2025 - from 11:30am - 1:30pm! The event is free to attend and children will receive a small gift from Santa. Last years event was really well attended so we're excited to invite back the The Cairngorm Reindeer Herd to bring with them some festive joy.

We're currently looking for stall holders - if you're interested, please pop us a message on here or email us on [email protected]. Please note, it is an outdoor event, so gloves and hats may be necessary to keep cosy for the duration.

We're also looking for sponsors for the event, if you own or manage one of our incredible local businesses, and are looking to partner with a registered charity to give back this season please get in touch.
