Meet Marie Yazawa, an international UN Volunteer from Japan who is currently serving as a Health and Nutrition Officer for UNICEF in the Solomon Islands.
Marie’s mission is to ensure every child gets a healthy start. She supports a major school health and nutrition initiative funded by the Government of Japan, focusing directly on improving school meals in Isabel and Western Provinces.
For Marie, this mission is deeply personal.
“I joined UNV because I believe every child deserves the chance to grow, learn and dream, no matter where they are born. Serving in the Solomon Islands allows me to contribute to school-based nutrition work that goes beyond food- supporting children’s health, nutrition, learning, dignity and hope.”
Being an international UN Volunteer means connecting global partnerships with grassroots action to bring health, dignity, and hope to local classrooms.
