Yesterday, the Graduate Women Fiji Council came together for our annual planning meeting to discuss upcoming events and shape our programme of activities for the months ahead and into next year.

The meeting brought together GWF President Maelin Bhagwan, Immediate Past President Rosalia Fatiaki, Vice President – Development Ronna Lee, Vice President – Membership Jane Prasad, Coordinator for International Relations Maryann Lockington, and Treasurer Amrita Singh Josu.

We are excited about the plans taking shape and look forward to creating more opportunities for connection, professional development, mentorship and collective action in support of women and girls across Fiji.

There is plenty ahead, and we can’t wait to share it with you! 💙 Stay tuned!

Graduate Women Fiji(GWF) team extends its heartfelt appreciation to everyone who attended our Networking Reception hosted in partnership with the British High Commission.

We were honoured by the presence of the Hon. Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, distinguished guests from the corporate sector, development partners, supporters, mentors, and our incredible GWF members, including those who travelled from Nadi and Lautoka to be part of this special evening. Your attendance, encouragement, and commitment to empowering young women made the evening truly meaningful.

A very special thank you to the British High Commission - The Acting BHC Mr Michael Moddy, Anaseini Hurstel, Darren Hickes and team for the continued support and partnership with Graduate Women Fiji. Your commitment to creating opportunities for young women is deeply appreciated and has made a lasting impact.

We also extend our sincere gratitude to the The Greenhouse Studio team for their generous support in designing and developing the new GWF website. Thank you for helping us strengthen our online presence and better share our mission and the stories of the incredible young women we serve.

The evening was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate achievements, build meaningful connections, and strengthen partnerships that will continue to empower young women across Fiji.

GWF proudly celebrates the achievement of our scholar, Unaisi Muavesi, who graduated from the Fiji National University with a Diploma in Electronics, Telecommunications and Networking.

Unaisi’s journey is a testament to the power of education and the importance of supporting women in STEM. Today, she is applying her skills and knowledge as a technician at the FINTEL Network Operations Center, contributing to the telecommunications and technology sector in Fiji.

GWF proudly congratulates our scholar Ana Toroca on her graduation from the Fiji National University with a Diploma in Marine Engineering (Level 5) from the Pacific Centre for Maritime Studies.

Ana’s achievement is a testament to her hard work, perseverance, and commitment to pursuing studies in STEM and the maritime field. We are incredibly proud to have supported her journey and look forward to seeing the impact she will make in the Maritime sector.

Graduate Women Fiji successfully concluded its 19th Biennial General Meeting (BGM).

The BGM highlighted important milestones from scholarships to discussions on mentorship, partnerships and regional collaboration.

A special highlight of the afternoon was the formal induction of the new GWF Council:
🔹 President – Maelin Bhagwan
🔹 Immediate Past President – Rosalia Fatiaki
🔹 VP Development – Ronna Lee
🔹 CIR – Maryann Lockington
🔹 Treasurer – Amrita Singh Josu (apologies received)

We extend our sincere appreciation to the outgoing Council members for their dedication and service:

🔹 President Rosalia Fatiaki for her outstanding leadership
🔹 VP Membership Eleni Tabua for her consistent support and hard work strengthening membership engagement
🔹 VP Development Mereoni Chung for her support in building and maintaining key partnerships

A special visit by Graduate Women Fiji to our former trustee, Joan Teaiwa 💐

Joan continues to inspire us with her strength, grace, and warmth. It was truly heartening to spend time with her, reflecting on her contributions and the legacy she has helped build for women and girls in Fiji.

Joan also spoke fondly of the Fiji Association of Women Graduates (FAWG), recalling its important role in advancing education and opportunities for women—values that continue to guide our work today.

Each year, through our Annual Quiz Fundraiser, we raise vital funds to support young women’s education and empowerment in pursuing careers in STEM, and we are grateful to partners like Namosi Eco Retreat who help make this possible. Their generous contribution of a retreat stay as one of our prizes continues to create memorable experiences for our winners while supporting a meaningful cause.
