Hi everyone, we are reaching out on behalf of Bebo’s owners for some support.

Bebo was unfortunately involved in an accident and suffered severe damage to her front paw. After assessment, she now requires an amputation surgery to give her the best chance at a pain-free recovery.

The estimated cost for her surgery, medication, and post-surgery care is between $350–$400. SPCA Fiji will be covering and discounting the consultation and X-ray costs, but we are seeking assistance to help cover the remaining expenses.

If you are able to contribute towards Bebo’s treatment and recovery, no matter how small, it would be greatly appreciated ❤️

If you would like to assist Bebo, please contact our team or make a contribution towards his care ❤️
If you are able to help, you can send your donation to:-

⚠️ Important Notice to Pet Owners & Breeders ⚠️

It has recently been brought to our attention that some breeders are dispensing deworming and deflea medications with incorrect labels and misleading information being provided to the public.

We strongly advise against this practice and remind everyone that incorrect dosing or misuse of medications can place an animal’s life at serious risk.

Please refrain from relabelling or dispensing medications improperly. Official complaints will be lodged with the relevant authorities if such cases are identified.

🐾 Pet owners are also encouraged to always consult a veterinarian before giving any medication to their pets. Proper dosage and treatment should be based on the animal’s weight, age, species, and medical condition.

The safety and wellbeing of animals must always come first. 💙

Picture — Labelled as Simparica Trio, but it was actually just a deworming medication. The breeder was misleading the client.

🐾 Become a Virtual Adopter & Make a Difference 💙

Hey everyone, we are reaching out through our SPCA Fiji Virtual Adoption Program. With rising fuel prices, the cost of food, medical care, and daily shelter operations continues to increase, and we need your help now more than ever. 🙏

By becoming a Virtual Adopter, you can make a direct impact in the life of an animal waiting for a forever home. For just $30 a month — or any amount you are comfortable contributing — you can help sponsor a pet and support their care during their stay with us.

Your contribution helps provide:
🐶 Wholesome and healthy meals
🐱 Medical attention and treatments
🏠 Daily shelter care and a safe haven
🦴 Treats, collars, enrichment, and comfort items

This is more than just a donation — it is a lifeline and a source of love and hope for animals waiting for a second chance. 🌟

We are happy to work with contributions that suit your budget, and we can also guide you on becoming part of our SPCA Fiji community and provide updates on your sponsored pet’s wellbeing. 😊

Will you be part of our SPCA Fiji Virtual Adoption Program and help us continue providing the care these animals deserve?

To learn more, please email: [email protected] or [email protected]

Together, we can help them through these difficult times. 💙🐾

Calling All Pet Owners in Fiji 🐾

Researchers from the College of Business, Hospitality and Tourism Studies (CBHTS), Fiji National University are currently undertaking a research project on the potential for pet insurance in Fiji and the willingness of pet owners to invest in financial protection for their pets.

The research project, titled:
“Market Potential for Pet Insurance in Fiji: A Quantitative Analysis of Pet Owner Willingness to Pay and Key Determinants”

The study aims to better understand the experiences, concerns, and perspectives of pet owners in Fiji regarding veterinary costs, pet healthcare, and awareness of pet insurance. The findings may help contribute toward improving animal welfare and strengthening support systems for pet owners across the country. 💙

The survey is brief, confidential, and intended solely for academic research purposes.

We encourage pet owners to take part and share their views through the survey link below:

Thank you for supporting research that could benefit pets and pet owners throughout Fiji. 🐶🐱

Since there are no pet insurance products available in Fiji and a trip to the Vet is very expensive, the welfare of the fur babies are compromised. According to North American Pet Health Insurance Association (NAPHIA), the gross written insurance premiums (GWPs) surpassed a record $4.7 billion in 20...

Why is it important to desex when feeding stray animals?

At SPCA Fiji Islands, we offer a TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release) programme where community feeders can contact us, bring stray animals in, and have them desexed.

Feeding stray animals is an act of kindness, but if feeding happens without desexing, the stray population continues to grow. More animals can lead to:
🐾 More unwanted litters
🐾 Increased spread of diseases
🐾 More fighting between animals
🐾 More animals injured or killed in road accidents
🐾 More suffering overall

We encourage everyone who feeds stray animals to make friends with them, gain their trust, safely catch them, and bring them to our shelter or outreach desexing clinics to be desexed. If someone only wants to feed but does not support spay/neuter efforts, it can unintentionally create more problems in the long term. Our intention is never to stop people from feeding stray animals — in fact, we greatly appreciate and support those who care enough to help.

Our goal is to create healthier, more stable stray populations with less suffering in the future. contact us if you are feeding strays and need help with desexing.

we wanted to share an important message about TVT (Transmissible Venereal Tumour) in dogs in Fiji. 🐾

We have been seeing a growing number of dogs affected by TVT, and sadly many cases are reaching us at very advanced stages. In many of these cases, the cancer is no longer limited to the ge***al area — it has spread and affected the mouth, eyes, nose, and other parts of the body.

TVT is a contagious cancer that is commonly spread through mating, but it can also spread through close contact, such as sniffing or licking affected areas. While it is treatable, early detection is extremely important. Dogs left untreated can suffer significant pain, discomfort, bleeding, difficulty eating, and a greatly reduced quality of life. Signs to look out for include:
🐾 Bleeding from the ge***al area
🐾 Visible masses or growths
🐾 Swelling around the mouth or nose
🐾 Unusual discharge
🐾 Weight loss or reduced appetite

Desexing your pets and seeking veterinary care early can help reduce the spread of TVT and give affected dogs a much better chance at recovery.

If you notice any concerning signs in your pet or a community dog, please seek veterinary advice as soon as possible. Early intervention can save lives. 💙🐕

FOSTER PARENTS NEEDED

We are looking for caring foster homes for these kittens. They are approximately 3-4 weeks old, need assistance with feeding and need lots of love, attention, and a safe place to grow for 6 weeks. We hoping they could go in pairs.

Foster care is temporary — the animals remain under SPCA care and are not up for adoption yet. They are still completing their deworming, deflea, vaccinations, and later desexing. Once all treatments are done, they will be listed for adoption. Foster parents are welcome to submit an adoption application at that time.

If you can open your home and your heart to help these little ones, please contact us:
