Who remembers our very own Slovenian band Polenta? Polenta used to perform every Folklorama under the tent as well as other events throughout the years.

Who remember seeing Polenta back in the day??

Kaj je gor! 📖🤔

Did you know that June 8th was Primož Trubar Day in Slovenija? Trubar authored the very first printed books in the Slovene language, Catechismus and Abecedarium, in 1550.

By writing in the common tongue, he helped unify the spoken dialects into a written language, giving the Slovenian people a unified cultural voice.

He also was the first Slovenian to translate parts of the Bible into Slovene, publishing the New Testament between 1555 and 1577.

The Slovenian language that we speak today can be traced back to his work!

A MASSIVE thank you to everyone who came out to our mothers/father's day BBQ yesterday! Delicious food and wonderful performances by Zvonček and Triglav made the day one to remember.

A very special thank you goes out to all the volunteers who helped make this event a success!

THROWING IT BACK THURSDAY!!

This is a super old picture from June 23rd, 1963 when Our Lady of Lourdes Slovenian Church first opened. This was at the celebration after the first mass at our church where the Bishop joined us in our celebration.

This Saturday is our Mothers/Fathers Day BBQ at the church hall!!

Doors open at 2:00 PM
Triglav and Zvoncek will both be performing beginning at 2:30 PM
Food Service will begin at 3:00PM

For those that are only getting pickup, pickup is available at 3:30PM

If you did not RSVP for a meal you are still more than welcome to attend to watch the performances and enjoy some community fellowship.

We hope to see you there!

Over the years, we have been extremely lucky to have some of the top Slovenian bands visit Winnipeg and perform for us. Alfi Nipič, Igor in Zlati Zvoki, Slapovi and Čuki just to name a few.
