Congratulations to this year’s Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame inductees!
A special congratulations goes out to multi-sport athlete, Diane Pidskalny-Hrychuk. Diane was a pioneer regarding parasport in the province and her contributions as an athlete, coach and volunteer continue to impact the lives of so many!

The Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame Annual Induction Ceremony is THIS WEEK! Huge thank you to Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries for sponsoring the event. This year's inductees are:
Don Duguid – Athlete – Curling
Already a member of the Manitoba, Canadian, and World Curling Halls of Fame, Don is now being inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame as an individual athlete. A three-time Brier winner and two-time World champion in the 1960s and 70s, he was also a pioneering broadcaster who was the first to mic up curlers during live broadcasts. It is with great sadness we share that Don passed away on July 15, 2026. His son, Terry Duguid, will accept the induction on his behalf.
Mandy Marchak – Athlete – Rugby
Mandy took up rugby in grade 12 at Grant Park High School and quickly rose through the ranks, playing with the Winnipeg Wanderers, North Vancouver Capilano RFC, and London’s Saracens RFC. A hard-running centre, she earned 60 international caps for Canada in 7s and 15s, was named BC Premier Player of the Year in 2008-09, and captained the 7s national team in 2011-12. Already in the Manitoba and Canadian Rugby Halls of Fame, she now continues to shape the game through coaching and mentorship across BC.
Diane Pidskalny-Hrychuk – Athlete – Multi-Sport
Diane competed in eight sports, including wheelchair basketball, volleyball, table tennis, track, and curling, and won 134 medals at national and international events. Career highlights include serving as Team Canada’s Flag Bearer at the 1986 PanAm Games and being inducted into the Wheelchair Basketball Hall of Fame. The Ethelbert, Manitoba native also served on numerous sports councils and associations, retiring in 2008 after more than 40 years in sport.
Wayne McMahon – Athlete-Builder – Athletics
Wayne, a former Canadian Junior champion in the 3000m steeplechase who competed for Manitoba at the Jeux du Canada Games, has spent more than 50 years as a coach and physical education teacher, building generations of Manitoba track and field athletes. His honours include Sport Manitoba Coach of the Year, four Athletics Manitoba Coach of the Year awards, and Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee Medal. He has been a steadfast force in Manitoba athletics both as a competitor and as a developer of the sport.
Vlastimil Černý – Builder – Swimming
Vlastimil, or Vlastik for short, has spent more than 30 years reshaping swimming in Manitoba, leading the creation of the Manitoba High Performance Centre and pioneering the “stay and succeed” model that shows athletes can reach the world stage from home. He has coached Canada’s national swim team at four Olympic Games, guided three Manitobans to the Olympics, and is the longest-serving University of Manitoba Bisons swim coach in program history. He continues to build pathways for swimmers of all ages.
Team Jennifer Jones (2005-2010) – Team – Curling
Jennifer Jones, Jill Officer, Dawn McEwen (Askin), Cathy Overton-Clapham, Cathy Gauthier, Jennifer Clark-Rouire, Georgina Wheatcroft, Trisha (Eck) Hall, and coaches Janet Arnott and Larry Jones launched a curling dynasty from 2005 to 2010, winning four Canadian Women’s Championships, the 2008 world title, and world bronze in 2010. They’re also known for “The Shot,” Jones’ iconic final stone that stole gold from Ontario at the 2005 Scotties. Cool under pressure and tightly connected as a unit, the group remains iconic in the curling world.
