Oshawa and Durham Region Métis Council We are a Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Charter Community Council dedicated to building community relations and cultural links. to hear a guest speaker.

We are a Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) Charter Community Council. We invite the Oshawa and Durham Region Community, Métis, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal People of all ages to participate with us in the celebration of our Métis history, values, culture, and languages which form our proud heritage. Our council stands committed to enhancing community development, the academic success of our youth, th

e promotion artistic and cultural achievements along with exercising our treaty rights under the constitution. Together with our community partners, friends, the support of MNO and co-council we strive to provide community programs, outreach and cultural development. We're always looking for interested Citizens to participate as a representative in the vacant roles on Council or in any volunteer capacity. Please contact us for more information. The Métis Nation of Ontario's Summer Youth Program is offering free, community-based workshops from now until August 17, 2026. Explore Métis stories and traditions through beading, music & dance, embroidery, finger weaving, and more.

Workshops are available for organizations, programs, and community events, with engaging programming tailored for participants of all ages.

Join Dr. Raymond Therrien for an MNO Scholar Talks presentation on June 23, 2026, at 6 p.m. EDT.
The session will explore the diversity of Michif languages, how they are connected to Métis identity and what their recognition could mean for Métis-led language revitalization efforts.

Participants will also learn why different languages may require unique resources, programming, and supports.
