DON’T CALL IT YET.

“I thought by now…” Sometimes those words carry more disappointment than we know how to explain.

Last night, Pastor Ryan brought us into the story of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus. They had called for Jesus, but by the time He arrived, Lazarus had been dead for four days. They were grieving. They were confused. Mary told Him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”

Jesus wept with them. Then He went to the tomb.

What looked finished to everyone standing there was still subject to His voice.

Pastor Ryan challenged us with three reminders:

• YOU DON’T OWN THE CLOCK. Our times are in God’s hands. We can make plans without making our timeline the measure of His faithfulness.

• HIS SCHEDULE, HIS FIGHT. When God gives an assignment, He supplies His help. Like Moses, we can move forward trusting His presence rather than relying entirely on our own ability.

• DON’T CALL IT BEFORE GOD DOES. “Premature labels have a way of killing mature blessings.” Be careful about calling yourself disqualified or your situation hopeless before God has finished His work.

In the waiting, we have a choice: worship or worry.

Worry fixes our attention on our limitations and the worst that could happen.
Worship turns our attention toward God and His greatness.

Jesus told Martha, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” John 11:40

Keep praying. Keep showing up. Keep believing.

Don’t call it yet.

You prayed. You made the plan. You thought things would look different by now.

Mary and Martha thought Jesus was too late. Lazarus had been dead for four days, but Jesus still had something to say.
