The Mennonite Story

09/03/2026

Today the Old Order Mennonites in our community are celebrating Thanksgiving with a church service this morning. "Harvest church" they call it.
There will be lots of horse and buggy traffic today, so please drive with care. Give them space when driving past them, and when stopping behind them at intersections or lights.
Horses are very dependable creatures once trained, but until then, they need the rest of us to proceed with care when driving close by.
Please practise safety first.
We are open at the Mennonite Story from 9:00 - 3:00 today. Pop by, and say hi!

A Day in the Life of an Old Order Mennonite

The Old Order Mennonites are one of the most recognizable groups within the Mennonite community, known for their traditional lifestyle and distinctive attire. Their day typically begins before dawn, starting with morning chores such as milking cows and preparing breakfast using fresh, homegrown ingredients. These early hours are characterized by prayer and reflection, which help set a spiritual foundation for the day. For more information about Mennonite life, visit us at the Mennonite Story.
