Please read the post and contact City of Hamilton for more information.
The City of Hamiltonโs contractor, KAPP Infrastructure will fully close Grindstone Creek bridge June 1 at 7am through June 5 at 5pm. KAPP will be installing two large cranes needed to lift steel girders into place.
During the full closure, Dundas Street East will be closed to all pedestrians and vehicles between Mill St. and First St. During that time:
- There will be no vehicle or pedestrian access between Reynold Street and Mill Street
- Local access will be maintained to homes on Reynold Street as well as Waterdown Manor, and to the businesses located at 327 and 331 Dundas St E.
- EMS / Police / Fire services have been made aware and have made arrangements to ensure coverage.
Further to the last point, I have specifically asked Fire Chief Cunliffe and Police Chief Bergen for public statements confirming that Emergency Services are truly aware of the situation. I have asked for their assurances to the community that provisions have been made to ensure an emergent issue can be met with a quick and effective response, despite the temporary bridge closure.
Once the crane work is complete on June 5, pedestrian access will return to the north sidewalk, and the bridge will revert to current traffic control conditions of eastbound between 2am-2pm and westbound from 2pm-2am.
Questions regarding the work can be directed to the Cityโs on-site inspector, Paul Schollenberg via [email protected] or the Project Manager, Cory Peters via [email protected].
