Join us!

BeConnected is a proud co-sponsor of, We All Need A Home: a new play about the rights and needs of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to have a home, coming to Victoria on October 22nd!

When: Thursday, October 22nd, Doors Open at 12:30 pm; Performance 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm; Talk Back With Actors 2:00 pm - 2:20 pm

Where: Dave Dunnet Community Theatre, 2121 Cadboro Bay Rd, Victoria BC

Why?

🏠More than 5,000 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in British Columbia are looking for homes.

🏠Housing is a human right.

🏠Housing is not just a basic need but a critical determinant of health.

Inclusive housing:
🏠provides a sense of home and belonging;
🏠is safe, accessible and affordable;
🏠provides individuals with choice and control over day to day decisions and with supports that meet their disability specific needs; and
🏠promotes independence, dignity, quality of life and inclusion for individuals to participate as full citizens in their neighbourhood.

On Wednesday, September 30, we commemorate National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day, to remember the horrific legacy of Residential Schools and colonial processes, and to uplift all Survivors and Indigenous families.

Our offices will be closed on Wednesday, September 30, for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation statutory holiday.

Support is still available for families on this day.

We are very proud of Ginger, again! She completed 40 days of walking from France, over the Pyrenees, and across the entire country of Spain. She ended her walk in Finisterre (The End of the World), over 1000 km; at the same time completing her 4th Compostela by completing 800 km of the Camino Frances. And then she kept walking. At the end she stopped in a beautiful oceanside town called Muxia for a rest, and then commenced the long journey back home. Another amazing adventure, but we are happy to have Ginger back!
