ABOUT US:
UVic Students for Literacy was founded in 1994. The club stemmed from a program hosted by Frontier College, but has since become an independent organization. The goal of the club is to promote literacy throughout Victoria by providing free reading tutoring for children. The club is a non-profit organization, and it is run by student volunteers. The club receives a small amount of funding from the UVic Student Society, but most of the club’s money is raised through various fundraisers such as bake sales. Outside of promoting literacy, our club offers a variety of social events that allow the members of the club to relax, have fun, and get to know each other. Some examples of events we have done in the past include: barbeques, ghost tours of downtown Victoria, movie nights, pub nights, and much more!
