🥩 Saturday Meat Draws — 🥩
Our Saturday Meat Draws are about more than prizes — they’re about people. They’re a simple, accessible way for our community to come together, support local causes, and make a meaningful impact close to home.
All meat is purchased and donated locally from Four Rivers Co-operative, and proceeds from each draw support three beneficiaries, each strengthening our community in a different — but deeply connected — way.
💙 Sarah’s Dreams to Destiny Foundation
Sarah’s Dreams to Destiny Foundation is in its founding stages, created in loving memory of Sarah and inspired by her lived experience with FASD.
While FASD is often discussed in the context of childhood, it is a lifelong condition — one that affects individuals well into adulthood. This foundation recognizes that truth and is committed to supporting both children and adults with FASD, while also increasing awareness and understanding of how the disorder impacts people across their entire lives.
Its vision includes creating joyful, meaningful experiences — moments of inclusion, dignity, and belonging — particularly for Indigenous children and adults from surrounding Nations. The board is a thoughtful mix of local and Indigenous members, working collaboratively to build a foundation rooted in respect, lived experience, and community need.
Funds raised through these Meat Draws help cover essential startup and charitable licensing costs, allowing the foundation to move toward official status and long-term impact. This work is being carried forward by Sarah’s widower and My Place Pub owner, Dave, in her honour — transforming love, loss, and lived experience into hope and opportunity for others.
💙 Kinsmen Foundation of BC
For over 70 years, the Kinsmen Foundation of BC has been committed to enhancing the lives of individuals living with physical disabilities.
Originally founded with a mission to help find a cure for Polio, the Foundation evolved as the disease was conquered, shifting its focus to supporting those affected and, more broadly, people living with physical disabilities across British Columbia.
Today, the Foundation works to improve independence, well-being, and quality of life, often through the purchase of mobility aids and adaptive equipment — practical, life-changing supports that restore dignity, access, and opportunity. At its core is the belief that everyone deserves the chance to live their best life, regardless of physical limitations.
Elevating Independence isn’t just a motto — it’s a promise.
💙 NeighbourLink Vanderhoof
NeighbourLink is often known as a food bank — but they are far more than that.
They are community builders, creating connection, support, and stability for individuals and families facing food insecurity and other challenges. Their current goal of securing their building isn’t just about a physical space — it’s about securing a future for the programs, people, and relationships that depend on it.
When we support NeighbourLink, we’re investing in long-term community resilience.
🥩 Why a Meat Draw?
Because it brings people together.
Because it keeps dollars local.
Because it’s accessible, social, and fun.
And because even simple traditions can create lasting impact.
