Today, on International Firefighters’ Day, we recognize the courage and compassion of those who are often first on the scene. For many in the epilepsy community, that includes moments of fear and uncertainty, and firefighters are there to help.

Behind every firefighter is a real person showing up on some of life’s hardest days. We are deeply grateful for your strength, your care, and your commitment to keeping our community safe. 💜🚒

We’re feeling incredibly grateful 💜

Epilepsy Durham Region is honoured to be the 2026 charity of choice for the amazing team behind Uxperience, a local theatre production that celebrates creativity, connection, and community.

This year’s theme, Camp Uxperience, brings an extra layer of fun and imagination, and we love how it creates space for storytelling, expression, and belonging.

We recently had the chance to do a quick back and forth interview with the Uxperience team, and we’re so inspired by their passion and commitment to making a difference both on and off the stage.
Be sure to check it out and show them some love. Supporting local art while raising awareness for epilepsy is a powerful combination ✨

On World Health Day, we’re thinking about the people behind the programs. 💜

Epilepsy doesn’t just affect health in a clinical sense, it shapes daily life, confidence, relationships, and mental well-being. For many individuals and families, the journey can feel overwhelming and isolating at times.

That’s why connection matters.
That’s why community matters.

At Epilepsy Durham Region, we walk alongside people at every stage. Offering support, understanding, and a reminder that no one has to navigate epilepsy alone.

Today, we honour the strength and resilience of the epilepsy community, and the power of showing up for one another.

💜 If epilepsy has touched your life, you’re part of this community too.

On World Health Day, we’re shining a light on the importance of local, accessible epilepsy programming.

Our team provides customized support, education, and referrals that help individuals and families manage the physical, psychological, and social impacts of epilepsy close to home.

As we head into the Easter weekend, we’re thinking about caregivers, kids, and adults in our community who are spending the holidays managing seizures, hospital visits, and the unknown.

Epilepsy Durham Region is here to walk alongside you with education, advocacy, and one‑to‑one support so that no one faces epilepsy alone.

From our team to yours, we wish you a peaceful, safe, and hope‑filled holiday weekend.

Today is World Autism Acceptance Day. It’s a reminder that many individuals (approx 30%) with autism spectrum disorder also live with epilepsy, and both are often invisible conditions.

At Epilepsy Durham Region, we advocate for understanding, not assumptions, and we know that families navigating co‑occurring diagnoses need wrap‑around support.

Let’s create communities where neurodivergent kids and adults feel safe, seen, and included, whether their condition is visible or not.
