By empowering and engaging people; Africycle is working to create sustained, responsible development in Africa. Stimulated by the support of Canadians, Africycle's model of development utilizes a holistic strategy to benefit communities as a collective, leveraging the greatest outcome

from all resources - money, time and people. Recognizing need and taking action, Africycle discovered that many people in Africa could not afford available forms of transportation; mini bus, taxi or least of all a private vehicle. Therefore the alternative most people turn to is a bicycle. Simple and cheap to operate, bicycles are an effective way to save significant amounts of time. By providing access to appropriate, affordable bicycles; Africycle is using the bicycle as a tool for change in Africa.

LAST MINUTE CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!
Africycle Canada will be having a container dropped this coming weekend and we need your help loading it full of bikes destined for Malawi. It will be a two day packing event starting at 10 AM until 2 PM on Saturday, September 13, and times will be determined for Sunday, September 14 closer to the day. Please bring your friends and help us make light work of this big job! See you this weekend at the Africycle containers located across from The Second Wedge!
HEADS UP STUDENTS…this is a great opportunity to get in some community hours. Bring your paperwork with you and we will sign off 😉

As 2025 quickly passes, we pause to reflect on the meaningful work we've accomplished together throughout 2024 and into the start of this new year. Our newsletter is packed with updates on the amazing work you helped make possible—beyond bikes. From supporting local students and school feeding programs to the rebuilding of community structures and expanding our bicycle loan initiatives, your generosity continues to move us forward. Take a look at what we've accomplished together in the attached images, or follow the link below for better viewing.

In September 2024, volunteers in Uxbridge, ON, came together for an incredible two-day packing event. Not only did we pack donated bicycles from our hometown, but we also offloaded a shipment from our partners at Bicycles for Humanity in Thunder Bay, ON, to fill the container bound for Malawi. After rail strikes, hiccups, and delays, we finally received this shipment at our shop in Malawi — and the crew couldn’t be happier with the quality of the bikes! A huge thank you to all the volunteers who made this possible in both Thunder Bay and Uxbridge. The smiles during our rainy (and very muddy) offloading say it all!

Looking forward to receiving this inaugural shipment!

Looking forward to receiving this inaugural shipment!

We’re loading our first container of bikes to Africycle in Malawi!

This marks the start of our new partnership with Africycle, an organisation making a huge impact.

Re-Cycle supports AfriCycle’s key initiatives, including a microloan program that helps low-income families buy bikes and repay over time, saving on transport costs. AfriCycle reinvests proceeds from refurbished bike sales into community projects, like supporting over 500 orphaned children.

In a country facing economic challenges these bikes are life-changing - providing critical links to schools, healthcare, markets, and jobs. 🌍

Here’s to new partnerships and brighter futures! 💛
