A historical Estate in the Uxbridge Township is under threat of development. Developers are proposing to build 39 townhomes on The Gould Estate and move the existing home that is designated under the Ontario Heritage Act. This Estate was once owned by Joseph Gould who has been called the founding father of Uxbridge. The developers have appealed to the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB), and the Uxbridg
e Gouldville Citizens Association was granted Party status for the OMB proceedings. UGCA has signed an agency agreement with The Architectural Conservancy of Ontario. This is great news because this means that any person that donates funds towards this cause will receive a tax receipt for charitable donation. Donors will help us save an important part of our Uxbridge Heritage, and they will be receive a tax benefit. Please note that under the rules of the CRA, any donation of an equity (stock or bond) donated is exempt from capital gain taxes. This means that if an individual has stocks or bonds which will attract capital gains taxes ( 50% of the gain) can be donated and count as a tax credit on your next year's income tax. We are a group of citizens that have come together to try to save the Gould Estate and preserve our Uxbridge heritage.
