Info on our October meeting

We will meet on October 21st at 7 pm. St. Luke's United Church in Upper Tantallon. Come early (6:30) if you'd like to spend time chatting with other members! Cash donations for the SMB Food Bank are always welcome. Guests may attend meetings too! There is a $5 fee for visitors.

PLEASE ALSO SEE THE POST RE OUR RENEWAL FORM - below!

Our speaker will be the popular Georgina Tarrant from BLOOM Greenhouses. The topic is:

PLANNING FOR RESILIENCE

"Over the past five years we have faced many weather and pest challenges. People in our area have been challenged by drought, fire, floods and an ever-increasing disease and pest load. On October 21st, I will be discussing how garden design and plant selection can help us adapt. We will explore ways to integrate resiliency into our gardens, from design features and layout to soil improvement and plant selection."

If you just PAID for 2026-2027 and did NOT fill our our membership form, this is something that we REALLY NEED!! Your etransfer does not give us your email or phone number. (Yes, we know that we may have this info from last year but we have to search for it and re-enter it...) Each year THIS FORM https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeAlCWqBYx4RPlZqK6_jvCOgX3UI9q_tr2oEoyOf5HEkvz93Q/viewform

populates our MAILING LIST. Right now our mailing list and etransfers do not MATCH. Please take a minute to use the form to share your name, email and phone number. If you can't remember if you did it or not, do it anyway!

If you are renewing or are brand new, we really appreciate being able to share meeting information and other news with you, on a timely basis. THANKS!!

Thank you for using this online form! Online info will be automatically logged to our secure spreadsheet which greatly reduces the work for our Membership Committee. (A printed form will be available at meetings but in very limited quantities. Please use this form for efficiency, and to save a tree....

What's happening in your garden? What's still thriving...finally blooming...still performing? Here's a "flock of photos" from my garden yesterday and this evening - I won't try to name everything. Some hostas have JUST bloomed, in fact I'm seeing new buds. The coneflowers are having a blast. Ligularia, as tiny as the bloom is, always makes me smile. There's a lone yellow snapdragon, and some very happy annual "fillers" are still going strong in thw wheelbarrow. Scarlet runners are bright spots and we still have female hummingbirds visiting daily. That red rose just won't quit and the clematis still pops out a bloom every few days. Yellow waxbells are just starting to bloom 💛 . Please share in the comments what's making you happy in YOUR late summer garden. It's ok to share a bunch! Everyone loves to "visit" via your pictures. -Paula Fredericks

The stars were aligned to create a perfect day for our Valley Garden Tour yesterday! I enjoyed a fabulous day with 48 (or was it 49? 🤔😉) wonderful people! A bit of rain on the way out and a bit to welcome us back to Tantallon; otherwise, it was a wonderful day to visit the garden nurseries and enjoy lunch at Luckett Vineyards.
Here are a few photos from our day trip!

The Valley Garden Nursery Tour is happening this Sunday, and there are 5 seats left! For those of you who like to leave things to the last minute, registration is still open, but not for long. Registration closes at 5 pm on Saturday.
There has been a slight change in the itinerary. Our last stop will be at Baldwin Nurseries just outside of Windsor. So three fabulous locations: The Briar Patch, Luckett Vineyards, and Baldwin Nurseries to finish off the day.
