Our first Saturday Sparkle donated jewellery sale at the Hubbards Barn Association Farmers' Market this morning was a wonderful success. We raised over $400 for the St. Margaret's Bay Food Bank, and got to talk jewellery with lots of nice people. Big thanks to Haley and Chelsea with the market, to our fellow vendors, who couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming to the rookies, and to our customers.

Almost everyone mentioned how wonderful it is that our Bay Seniors members and other community members generously donate jewellery to keep this program going, year after year. We couldn't agree more. THANK YOU to our jewellery donors and buyers and program volunteers.

We'll be back at the market on Saturday, July 25...we can't wait!

St. Margaret's Bay Pride and the St. Margaret's Bay Gardening Club are holding a fun and fabulous garden contest. Check out the details, and share with your gardening friends!

🌺 The Planting with Pride Showcase in St. Margaret’s Bay is an opportunity for anyone in the community to show their Pride. We invite residents and businesses to create and display Pride-inspired gardens, planters and outdoor spaces this spring. Organized by the St. Margaret's Bay Gardening Club in partnership with St. Margaret’s Bay Pride, this initiative celebrates creativity, builds community connections, and uplifts 2SLGBTQIA+ visibility and allyship during Bay Pride 2026 (July 5-26th) in a fun and inclusive way. 🌈

📷 How to Participate: Design and Plant a Pride-themed display. Then snap a photo of your creation and submit it via this form (https://forms.gle/4nnQBBjGt5Pn8Eni9) by July 10 at 11:59 PM AST for a chance to win great prizes!

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:
- Small but Mighty Blooms (for container displays; both for an individual planter and for a display of several containers)
- Little Sprouts Pride (for kids garden and kids container)
- Bursting with Pride (full of colour garden display)
- Laughing with Pride (quirky and comical, pots and/gardens)
- Neighbourhood in Bloom (three or more folks in a neighbourhood entering)
- Community Business in Bloom (most ambitious container or garden display for a business entry)
There will also be a few participation prizes selected through a random draw, so everyone who participates will have the chance to be celebrated.

Selections will be announced at Bay Pride Fest on July 25th at the Hubbards Barn, and winners will also be notified via email and announced on both the garden club website and St. Margaret’s Bay Pride’s website.

✨ Need some inspiration? Here are some ideas to get you started!
- Planting flowers in rainbow sequences, or using rainbow colours
Using specific Pride flag palettes (see https://www.hrc.org/resources/lgbtq-pride-flags)
- Incorporating decorative elements like small Pride flags, painted garden stakes, hand-painted rocks with affirming messages, signs, ribbons
- Decorated planters, reclaimed materials, or themed garden beds
- Window boxes or small-space gardens
- Incorporating pollinator gardens to connect Pride with environmental stewardship
