🌳 Welcome to High Park North Coalition

We are a resident led, not for profit group formed to protect the character, livability, and canopy of our neighborhood. Last week, we shared our first flyer with neighbours about the proposal for two 40 storey towers at Oakmount & Mountview. These towers would replace 11 homes—including affordable rentals—and stand beside a community of mostly 2–3 storey bu

ildings (with one 4 storey at Bloor & Keele). Our mission is simple: to ensure development in High Park North respects our community, our trees, and our shared quality of life.

✉️ Option 1 – Formal & Policy Focused
Subject: Opposition to Proposed Towers at Oakmount & Mountview

Dear Councillor Perks and Ms. Arora,

I am writing to oppose the proposed towers at 26–36 Mountview Avenue and 21–29 Oakmount Road. Two towers of nearly 40 storeys each are completely out of scale with our neighbourhood.

This project would overwhelm local infrastructure, worsen traffic on narrow streets, and cast long shadows on nearby homes. It would also remove mature trees that are part of a rare ecosystem.

I urge you to reject this rezoning application and support growth that respects the character and limits of our community.

Sincerely,

✉️ Option 2 – Community Voice

Subject: Please Protect High Park North from Overdevelopment

Dear Councillor Perks and Ms. Arora,

As a resident of High Park North, I am deeply concerned about the proposed Elysium towers. Our schools are already full, our roads are narrow, and our services are stretched. Adding 873 new units in towers of this size would make daily life unsafe and unsustainable.

We want growth that fits the neighbourhood, not towers that overwhelm it. Please stand with residents and oppose this application.

Thank you,

✉️ Option 3 – Personal & Concise

Subject: Oppose Elysium Towers

Dear Councillor Perks and Ms. Arora,

I strongly oppose the proposed towers at Oakmount and Mountview. They are far too tall for this area and will harm our community’s character, safety, and environment.

Please reject this rezoning and support a more reasonable scale of development.

Sincerely,

✉️ Option 4 – Emphasis on Precedent

Subject: Uphold Planning Integrity – Reject Elysium Towers

Dear Councillor Perks and Ms. Arora,

Approving the proposed towers at Oakmount and Mountview would set a damaging precedent for our neighbourhood. The Official Plan calls for stability in low rise areas, not 40-storey towers.

Council has refused similar out of scale projects before. I urge you to do the same here and protect the integrity of our planning policies.

Respectfully,
