FFF Presents….

🎺To Sleep With Anger (1990)

The third feature film from Charles Burnett, one of the most underrated American directors and key member of the LA Rebellion, To Sleep with Anger tells the story of a family living in South Central LA who are payed a visit by their old friend Harry from the south.

Featuring Danny Glover in probably his greatest role as a devilish, anarchic figure rooted in African American folklore, this criminally underseen film is not one to be missed.

⁉️WTF WEDNESDAY⁉️ presents..

The Grapes of Death (1978)

Even though cult auteur Jean Rollin is best known for his dreary and erotic female vampire mood pieces, he also made a number of films depicting the other living dead: zombies.

In this unique reimagining of the zombie apocalypse, the virus spreads through the local w**e! In contrast to the claustrophobia of Romero’s seminal Night of the Living Dead, Rollin’s apocalypse is set in the open fields of the French countryside, seeking the horror in the unpredictability of the landscape.

Even if you wanted to crucify me for programming The Night of the Hunted 2 years ago, there’s still a chance you might have a ball with this one. It’s more “upbeat” in terms of pace but certainly not in terms of tone. Somehow Rollin manages to still find tragedy within such an outrageous premise. - Batu [CINSSU Programmer]

FFF Presents….

🏠House With the Laughing Windows (1976)

An art historian arrives at a quiet Italian town to restore a violent fresco, only to find himself spiralling into a web of mystery following the suspicious deaths of the townsfolk and the discovery of an old audio tape with a morbid message.

While many contemporary gialli investigate the effects of modernity largely within urban landscapes, Pupi Avati moodily recenters its mystery within the countryside. Blood isn’t the only thing oozing through the wounds of art here - it’s also atmosphere.

Come celebrate the 50th anniversary of probably the greatest giallo ever made.
