What’s better than a night out at a TFC game?
Getting to do it with all your ✨ Hillel besties of course!

Thanks to everyone who pulled up to make it the perfect was to (almost) say goodbye to summer (and UJA Connect for joining us of course 💙)

We’ll be keeping these vibes going at every campus all semester long. Find your way in, and see for yourself!

Patrick wasn’t someone who found himself at Hillel very often.

Until he found a place where he could be his full, authentic Jewish self, without judgement.

Suddenly, he found his way in and found a place to call home at Hillel McMaster

What began as a review into two specific events revealed a broader institutional issue: a deeply polarized campus environment shaped by the aftermath of October 7, 2023.

The independent external review led by the Hon. Mary Lou Benotto found that TMU permitted a heckler’s veto, failed to apply its own policies consistently and decisively, and heard that numerous students, faculty, and staff no longer feel safe openly identifying as Jewish.
The bottom line: it’s time for accountability.

We call on TMU to promptly adopt the Review’s recommendations—to protect Jewish students and safeguard the right of all students to fully participate in university life.

What does it look like when 70+ future lawyers, young lawyers, and legal professionals come together in one room?

It looks like countless new relationships formed. It looks like meaningful conversations, shared learning, and a community coming together around Jewish law and leadership.

The Jewish Law Gala & Summit was a celebration of the incredible community we’re building together. Until next time 🥂

Hillel Ontario welcomes the release of the Honourable Mary Lou Benotto's external review, which vindicates what Jewish students at TMU have been saying for years.

Our submission to the review, "A Culture of Impunity," documented exactly what this report confirmed: a campus climate where Jewish students were continually harassed and intimidated simply because of their identity.

We are encouraged by the recommendations in the report, including the call for the university to adopt the IHRA definition of antisemitism, and we call on TMU to act quickly to implement them.

“Our mission is timeless, but our methods must continue to evolve.” 💡

As Hillel Ontario steps into its second decade, we are thrilled to announce Jay Solomon as our new Chief Executive Officer.

Jay has been a driving force behind our organization’s growth for years. Bringing nearly two decades of experience in higher education and Jewish campus life, from his decade at CIJA to his recent role as our Chief Advancement Officer, Jay is incredibly equipped to lead us into our next chapter.

We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to Rabbi Dr. Seth Goren for navigating the post-October 7 landscape with such clarity and resolve. We are honoured that he will continue supporting our work as Senior Vice President, Learning, Education, and Research.

Join us in welcoming Jay! 👇 Swipe through to read more about his vision for the future of Jewish student life in Ontario.

Meet Tal Rozenblit. He just graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in International Relations and Public Policy. After the events of October 7, Tal felt like he had nowhere to go on campus. He walked into a Bagel Tuesday at the Wolfond Centre and found a room full of students who were proud to be Jewish. Tal became a student leader and even met with government ministers to discuss campus safety. He walked across the graduation stage wearing a white kippah with a Magen David. Your support gives students like Tal the confidence to be proud of their identity.
